Neil Banerjee was born and raised in Burnpur, a small industrial town in West Bengal, India. His first flight — from Chennai to Detroit — began a life lived across continents: India, Belgium, and the United States, where his two children were born into a family already rearranged by three countries. That particular arithmetic of belonging to more than one place at once became the emotional foundation of his fiction.

He is the author of The Gate of Belonging, a planned five-book literary saga about migration, memory, architecture, inheritance, and the meaning of home across generations and continents.
