Oh, New York, New York… city where the luxury goes and billionaires are real. That’s where I was going now. What for? You would wonder. Well… I could say shopping or pleasure, but the truth was that Maya Banks was waiting for me to interview her. Wasn’t that awesome? She had insisted on meeting at the HCM office building once I settled in the hotel and I could take a break from the long trip. Would Gabe, Jace and Ash be there too? I really hope so. I was dying to ask them a few questions, mostly about their sexual… activities. A girl never encountered men like those every day!
Maya informed me that the limo would be waiting for me downstairs in exactly two minutes, and I still wasn’t entirely ready for the big moment. What if all that richness was too much for me? I could have perfectly taken the subway… Riiiing. Riiiiing. Moving towards the telephone, I picked it up and placed it over my ear. “Yes?” “Miss, your limo has already arrived, and Ms. Banks and Mr. Hamilton are awaiting you here.” The receptionist said. What? Gabe too? “Thank you, ma’am,” I answered, my nerves taking over me. “I’ll be down in a minute.” Taking the elevator downstairs, I tried to take a deep breath and gave myself a little pep talk in front of the mirror; I stepped out and made my way to the long black limo with the driver waiting for me with the door opened. Once I took a seat, I looked up and my breath hitched. Trying to act professional, I cleared my throat, greeted Ms. Banks and Mr. Hamilton and tried not to ogle much. "So" I started "let's skip pleasantries and start with the good stuff, shall we?". Ms Banks laughed while Gabe merely looked amused, nodding. "Ms. Banks..." I was interrupted by the author, who quickly asked me to just call her Maya. "Alright, Maya, what was your inspiration for this trilogy?" I asked, pen and notebook ready.
*The Breathless trilogy was born of my love for my Sweet Series (an erotic romance series that I began writing in 2006) and my Harlequin Desire, which I published eight novels for that line. The Harlequin Desires are shorter books and so much fun to write. They usually involve wealthy, dominant heroes. I loved BOTH kinds of books so much that I decided it would be fun to include elements from BOTH kinds of stories into one trilogy. And thus the Breathless trilogy was born! I like to call them a more eroticized, longer version of my Harlequin Desires, which incorporates my favorite tropes and themes from the Sweet Series. The Sweet Series was more heavily eroticized and included themes of dominance and submission as well as many other erotic themes like ménages :) Three very strong male characters came to me and I knew their stories had to be told. Three wealthy, alpha, VERY dominant characters who were all single and adhering to their motto of “Play hard and live free.” That is until they meet the woman they fall head over heels for! And THAT is where the fun began in that trilogy.
"I see. Basically, we'll be seeing what you," I look pointedly to Gabe "Jace and Ash will go through. " Gabe gave me a curt nod. Raising an eyebrow, I didn't deter and tried to get him to elaborate. "Your answer is just a nod? I wouldn't think you would be okay with this" After a few minutes of silence, Maya answered for him. Silently thanking her, I wrote page after page of notes, smiling as I sensed how much passion Ms. Banks put in her work. " What makes this trilogy different in the genre, what makes it stand out? "
*I think a story can be the same and yet different. That sounds confusing but it actually makes perfect sense. An author can take a theme found in many other books and make it her own by incorporating her unique spin. It all comes down to the characters and for me the MOST important aspect of my novels is the emotion. I like a lot of emotion and for the reader to be able to connect with the characters even if they don’t LIKE them initially. That’s reality. Not everyone is likable from the very first page. The fun part is the journey of redeeming a character after they make mistakes and the biggest factor is how they make UP for those mistakes. It’s my hope as a writer that by the end of the story, I’ve won them over and that they can then look back and see how and why the characters made the choices they made and how they evolved and grew over the course of the story. While the stories are EROTIC, the main focus CAN’T be on the sex. Yes, it’s important and is a major part of the story, but the FOCUS has to be on the EMOTION and the ROMANCE in order for the story to work. If you write a really great sex scene but don’t follow it up with emotion and romance and character development then it just becomes a book of meaningless sex and for me as a reader, I find that boring!
I laughed while tucking a lock of my hair behind my ear. Meanwhile, Gabe's still wary, I think. He hadn't talked at all. I directed my next question to him, hoping he'd give me something to go from. "You know that after the book is released many women will fall on their knees wishing they were Mia, how do you feel about that?"
*Gabe chuckled and gave a rueful smile. “I don’t know that women will wish they were Mia. I made mistakes…” His grimace became more pronounced. “I fought my attraction and love for Mia and drove her away. I was an idiot. But she knocked me on my ass and from the moment she entered into a relationship with me, my world was completely upended. Thank God she was willing to forgive me and give me another chance. I don’t know of too many women who would put up with the stupid mistakes I made and still love me unconditionally. I’m so grateful to have her in my life, and if I have my way, she’ll never go another day without knowing how much she means to me. I plan to spend the rest of my life showing her that she can trust me and that I will never betray her trust or her love. She is it for me. She’s my forever. I can’t explain it any better than that.”
Fair enough, I thought as I jotted down what he said. "Maya, is there a special message you want to share with the readers through these novels?"
*I just want readers to walk away after reading the trilogy and be satisfied. I want to give them that “happy sigh” you get when you read a really good romance with a terrific ending. I’m hoping they stick with me to the very end and are willing to read through the characters making those HUMAN bad choices and mistakes, just like we ALL do in real life, and be able to see them change and evolve on the pages and BELIEVE in the happily ever after when it comes. At the end of the day, all I can do is pour my heart and soul into EVERY book I write and write the best possible story that I’m able to at the time. Once the book is finished and out of my hands and to my publisher, the rest is up to the readers. The success of the book is absolutely determined by readers. A writer can pen the best book EVER, but if readers don’t respond well to it or they don’t like it, then it will not be a success, no matter how “good” or “bad” it may be. Readers are the most important component in an author’s career. Not an author’s agent. Not the author’s editor. And not the author’s publisher. They are all important, but the KEY here are the readers. Period. Without readers, no matter how wonderful an author’s agent, editor and publisher are, the author will not be successful. That is WHY I value and love my readers so very much. I recognize that without them, I wouldn’t have a career. I would not be able to do what I love most. Write stories that come from my heart. Every single book, I credit its success to my readers. Every book that hits a bestseller list I am quick to attribute that to my READERS and I always tell them that THEY hit the bestseller list because it is them who bought and read the book and recommended it to others. I simply cannot express in any number of words my appreciation for all my wonderful readers who have supported me over the years. And my deepest gratitude to my NEW readers who have only recently found me as my readership continues to grow.
Smiling, I looked down to read the next question for her. "Is there a quirk or habit you have while writing?"
*I don’t really have any quirks or habits. But I’m frighteningly linear in my writing. I can’t write out of order. I cannot work on more than one book at a time. I envy authors who can write scenes out of order and then put the book together at the end and I envy authors who can work on more than one story at a time. I simply can’t. Each book gets my absolute attention and focus. While I’m writing a story, that book gets ALL of my concentration. It’s very important to me to make each book the absolute best book it can be. Sometimes I fail in that regard, but it’s not for lack of effort. It’s just that some books are better than others. It’s a fact of the business and the result of writing close to 60 novels. Not every book will be “the best book ever!” It’s just not possible. And readers are all different and not everyone has the same tastes, which makes it so much fun because everyone has a different reaction to every book. I just have to hope that ENOUGH readers are satisfied with the books that I can continue writing more.
"Ah, I see" I nodded at her and the limo stopped. Surprised, I looked through the tinted windows and realized we were already here. After the driver opened the door, we stepped out and made our way to the office, pausing to briefly greet Eleanor. Once Gabe closed the door after us, we saw Mia waiting, seated in her chair. She immediately came to us and didn’t hesitate to engulf me in a hug. Blinking, I put my arms around her, grateful she at least seemed more open. After we took a seat and waited for Jace and Ash to arrive, I looked at Mia and asked her if it's okay to add her to the interview. She nodded and waited for my question. "Have you ever imagined you would end up like this, with a man like Gabe by your side?" Color flooded Mia’s cheek and she glanced quickly at Gabe. Her eyes softened with love and they glowed with happiness. She returned her gaze to me, a bright smile on her face. *“Did I ever imagine? Well yes, I suppose I dreamed about it. I’ve had a mad crush on Gabe since I was a teenager, much too young for a man like him. But he was always in my fantasies for sure.” Gabe sent Mia a look that made me shiver with its intensity. It was obvious that Gabe had no issue with Mia admitting that he’d starred in many of her early fantasies. I suddenly felt like an intruder into something extremely intimate and personal. *“But to answer your question more clearly, no. I never dreamed that Gabe returned my attraction or that he’d thought of me. I thought I was doomed to a life of unrequited love. I didn’t think he would ever look at me as anything but his best friend’s baby sister. Thank God he finally woke up and smelled the coffee!” she finished with a laugh. Gabe rolled his eyes but smiled in Mia’s direction. “As long as I get to smell the coffee with you every morning, baby.” Mia beamed, and once again, I felt like I was intruding into something infinitely personal. I had taken enough of their time, and so I started to wrap up the interview. "Okay, I think I have enough with this. Thank you so much for cooperating” I looked pointedly at Gabe but turned to Maya. "Is there something you would like to say to your Spanish fans?"
*I am THRILLED that the Breathless trilogy will be translated and published in Spanish. I’m so looking forward to seeing what my Spanish readers think of the trilogy. It’s my hope that they’ll love it and will want to continue reading me when I publish my next trilogy :) I’ve only JUST signed another contract to write another trilogy that will release in 2014 in the U.S. and I’m crossing my fingers that my Spanish publisher will want to pick that trilogy up as well so that my Spanish readers can have MORE of my stories! Sending much love and hugs and kisses to all my Spanish readers. I’d love to hear from you! You can visit me on my facebook page at www.facebook.com/authormayabankswhere I often post snippets from books before they are released so readers get hints of what the stories will be about. We also dish books and have lots of fun discussions, so please do come by and like the page so you can join in the fun! You can also follow me on twitter. I have a “coming soon” page that I keep updated with up-to-the-minute information. As soon as I get information, I pass it along to my readers so they don’t have to wait!
"Thank you, Maya. I'll be sure to relay the message," I said, smiling gratefully at her. They had been treating me like a princess; I'd been staying at the hotel, fully pampered, and now there's a whole day planned to see some of New York's sights and enjoy my stay. I couldn't wait.

Well, first of all, thank you Kassandra, Edward, for letting me interview you! As I always start my interviews in this section, can you both explain a little bit what novels do you have and what are they about? This way Spanish readers—and publishers—can know you a little bit better!
Kass: Absolutely! We’d be glad to. We’re both authors of Erotica with Horny Devil Publishing (HDP). Edward in is the process of writing a BDSM series as well as a couple of stand alone books. Ed’s The Pit Series is about three ‘brothers’, Cameron, Harvey and Hamilton, who own an exclusive BDSM club. There are six books total, two for each Dom. The three men are all quite different, each bringing a different take on things. Cam is looking for his perfect sub without any success until he meets Tilly by accident. Harvey isn’t looking for anyone, in fact he’s avoiding relationships completely, even to the point of only doing ménages. Ham has very hard edges and will be interesting to put out there. In addition to that series, he has a stand alone, ready to come out in the next weeks, The Ten O’Clock Club, which is pure erotica, very sexy. Ed: Kassandra also is in the process of writing a BDSM series. Her Doctor’s Orders Series centers around a particular hospital where the main characters work or are affiliated. It also contains six books, two around each main pair. Doctor, Doctor focuses on Mia, a Domme and patient advocate and Joel, a submissive physician who struggles with his submissive sexual nature. Doctor Dom which is currently in the works focuses on a Dom physician. The third is still in the planning stage. Her second series, also ongoing is MenageMates which is based on matchmaking ménage play. Both: In addition, we have co authored two books so far with plans to continue. The first is Splinter’s Heart, a hot, sexy vampire true mates tale, which started as a stand alone but will likely become a series. The second is Host 911 which is part paranormal and part Comerotica, our publisher’s term for comical erotic books. We were both also featured in the HDP Christmas Anthology, Naughty Not Nice with short and very naughty tales. Ed’s Christmas tale was an erotic rewrite of Hansel and Gretel and Kass’ was an after hours tale, Caroline’s Christmas Surprise. We both have plenty more to come both individuals and together.
-Why did you guys choose writing about BDSM and erotica in general? It’s a matter of liking it? Or it’s just you find it easier to write?
Ed: I was thrown into writing really. It all started from a Role Play site I visited that was run by another author. I visited the site to have fun and passed comments on the threads with the other role players and was approached and asked to write. I have always been fascinated with BDSM and when I was given the opportunity to write, things just seemed to fall into place. That was where I first met Kass. Kass: My story is quite similar to Ed’s. I was also drawn to the role play site of a favorite author. What started as reading and banter with the role players eventually turned to role playing myself. That’s where I met Ed. We were often paired and wrote opposite each other, encouraging each other’s writing. I, too, am fascinated by BDSM and love writing erotica. Once I started writing role play, it felt right. Honestly, it just flows and is very comfortable for me to write. I’ve always loved reading it and it’s a whole new high to write it as well. -I know the topic is just being repetitive, I know, but how do you feel about the 50 Shades phenomenon and the term “Mommy porn”?
Kass: I think it’s fantastic that the 50 Shades phenomenon brought this erotic form of edgy writing into the mainstream. It’s not as if it didn’t exist, but the 50 Shades books made it somehow more open and acceptable to discuss and enjoy. I like the term “Mommy Porn”. It makes me chuckle. That’s exactly what it is. Ed: Mommy Porn is cool. After all, women have been falling in love with fictional characters since the word dot. To move that up a level to an acceptable girly porn is awesome. And what author wouldn't want to be EL James. She wrote a bold fresh series that caught the imagination of millions. I feel the motives that went behind Mr. Grey's BDSM life style were controversial, but EL James tackled the subject well. -From your books, and the book you guys co-authored, what do you think readers like the most? Is there anything in your stories that stand out from the others in the genre?
Ed: I feel writing naughty novels from a male perspective is unusual, and maybe a little bit unique. The Pit series is featured around the city of London and that also adds to the book’s mystique. Our co authored books seem to work well as Kass and I both have an understanding of each other’s strengths and we feel that comes through in our writing. Even back to our role play days, the fans used to ask for us to post together. Kass: I wanted to start my BDSM series with a Domme rather than the traditional male Dom so I think that’s a little different. In the Menage Mates, the ménage is used as a matchmaking ploy where one of the three is setting the other two up. I tried for something different there, also. As far as our co authored books, I agree with Ed on our writing together and it gives a really nice “he said, she said” twist to the stories. We have a writing chemistry that we enjoy very much and it started in our early role playing days. It’s been fun carrying it through to books as well. -Now let’s talk about your career. Was it difficult to finally get published? Did you try for a long time?
Kass: Honestly, it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. We were there as HDP was getting off the ground. We submitted and got accepted right off the bat. Ed: We were dead lucky for sure. We signed with HDP who were new to the business and looking for authors in our genre, so we count ourselves lucky. One thing I love about your books is the covers. What about your characters, or the stories in general, you love the most?
Ed: I love creating the characters and seeing where their stories take me. I don't really plan a story. I know I should but I kind of wing it. I find that works for me until I get near the end, then I’m like, ‘ok so now what’. Kass: The talented Dee Allen is responsible for our covers. They are sexy and fun and I love them too. I love it all. I enjoy developing the character and get very attached to them, hoping others do as well. The story building around them is also a great deal of fun as well. I love the collaboration with Ed as well. We seem to build upon each other’s ideas and it makes a more rounded story, I think. -Does that have anything to do with the message you want to send the readers? Or you just write what you feel inside?
Ed: Like I said earlier, the characters just seem to flow as I write, so I guess I write from the heart. Fan feedback has a role for sure. Take Splinters Heart for example; the fans want more, so we’ll give it to them. Kass and I will talk about the direction and the characters and hopefully continue with it as a series. -And finally, I can’t leave without asking you one last question. What would you tell the Spanish publishers and readers if you had them in front of you? (Yes… this is the moment to sell yourselves!)
Ed: I guess I would tell them to give this bloke a try, as guys can write erotica too. I would tell them that we are learning this art with every written word and have plenty more on the back burner. Kass and I have some excellent work coming up both as individual authors and co authors, so lay back in the sun, pour a glass of Rioja and find us on your e-readers. Kass: I think Ed said it perfectly. Check us out on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, AllRomance. Kobo, Smashwords or Itunes. Give our stories a try and you won’t be disappointed. If you want to know a little more about us personally, visit our websites: www.edwardtailor.webs.com www.kassandracox.webs.com We love fan feedback and we’d love to hear from all of you. -Alright, thank you both, Kassandra and Edward! It’s been a pleasure! Thank you! We enjoyed it and appreciate the support!

Entrevista a Eve Berlin
¡Hola lectoras y lectores!

~*~*~*~
Today was going to be awesome. Although I have to admit I felt a little bit nervous about what was happening—and where I was going. Seattle. Where Eve Berlin would be waiting for me along with Alec and Dylan, or so she had told me. I still couldn’t believe I was going to meet them. I mean, hello? It’s Alec! If he’s as handsome—and hot—as I imagined when I was reading the book, I swear I will faint, and then the interview will be a total failure. Ehh, no. Let’s hope for that not to happen or I won’t be able to look at them in the eye again. My plane had already landed and a private taxi was waiting for me at the airport entrance. Nice! At least I won’t have to take a regular taxi and pay for it with my kidney. I chuckled at my joke. Yeah, it was obvious I was nervous; otherwise I wouldn’t be telling stupid jokes that didn’t make any sense. The driver didn’t ask me where I wanted to go, he already knew. Or at least I hoped he did. I didn’t want to end up kidnapped and tied up somewhere around the city. Okay, okay. I will stop. Although I did want to end up tied up… Aaaalright, so not going there. “We’re here, Ms. Yuliss,” the driver informed me. I was very curious about knowing where ‘here’ was, since I had no clue where I was supposed to meet the author and the couple. Looking up, I turned my attention to the building standing in front of us, and then, my eyes snapped open. Oh my God… “You sure this is the right place?” I managed to say after gulping. He nodded. “Yes, of course. Mr. Walker clearly specified you were to be brought to Pleasure Dome as soon as your flight landed.” “Yeah… Mr. Walker…” Alec! I hadn’t even met him yet and he already unveiled an extreme dominance. “Okay. Thank you.” I said before getting out of the car and looking doubtfully at the entrance of Pleasure Dome, the BDSM club. Apparently, it seemed I was going to end up tied up after all… I couldn’t help a shudder. In that moment, the front door opened and a brown-haired woman with green eyes went out looking at me with a smile. Oh, that was Eve. She seemed to be so sweet! “Yuliss?” she asked as she approached me. I nodded and pulled out my right hand. “That would be me! I’m so excited to be here, finally.” She took and shook it. “I’m happy you are here, too. Come on in, Alec and Dylan are waiting inside.” Eck, talk about pressure! Trying to ignore my heart racing, I followed her and we both went it in search for the other two writers. The atmosphere inside was completely different to anything I could have ever imagined. The sexual tension, the dominance and submission were as noticeable as the glances the other men were sending in my direction. I gulped. It’s true I felt curious about this lifestyle, but the situation just seemed too surreal. Eve, however, didn’t turn her attention to anyone. She just kept walking. “So, did you research a lot about BDSM to write Pleasure’s Edge? I mean, what did you do to avoid missing important details about the lifestyle?”
*I’m very open about the fact that I’ve been involved in BDSM most of my adult life (I lecture about it, and have talked about it on Playboy Radio), so for me, much of my ‘research’ has been experiencing the things I write about. I’ve been to clubs all over the country and one in Canada, so the BDSM clubs I create in my books are usually a blend of the places I’ve seen—and the Doms are often loosely based on Dominant men I’ve known and played with or had a relationship with, or are sometimes a combination of several of them. Of course, those of us in the lifestyle also very often read about the practice and psychology of BDSM. Like anything else this complex, it takes some study. And this is an excellent place to study, don’t you think?
We finally got to the room where we were supposed to talk more calmly. The problem was I didn’t feel any calmer. Alec’s eyes were fixed on mine, and even though Dylan was right beside him, in silence and watching, I still could feel his power and will go through my bones and body. “Welcome to the Pleasure Dome, Yuliss” he said, his gaze not leaving mine. I could only nod in response. His face told me I weren’t to talk till he determined so. But I was the one doing the interview, so what the hell! “Thank you. It’s a pleasure to meet you” I greeted them. Then, pulled out my pad and pen and breathed deeply. “Would you mind if we start?” “That’s why we’re here, sweetie” answered Eve, nodding her head. “Okay, so… a lot of readers are pretty curious about you two,” I pointed at Dylan and Alec with my head. “And they would love to know, Alec, what was what you felt when you first had Dylan in your hands to explore and teach.”
*I felt her struggle with submitting, which only intrigued me more. I love a challenge, and even though I’d spent years playing with women who submitted to me easily and eagerly, Dylan’s fight against it is what finally drew me in. I loved the fire in her from the start. And the fact that she’s so beautiful…well…that just made her irresistible.
“And Dylan… what did you feel and think the first time you knew you were going to have sex with him? Did you know already he was gonna be the man of your life?”
*I’ve always thought of myself as a sexually sophisticated woman. Sex with a gorgeous man without any other expectations is something I’m comfortable with. So, no, the first time we were together, I had no idea it would turn into anything more than an amazing experience with one of the hottest men I’d ever seen.
I also thought of myself as someone who didn’t need to be in a relationship, and falling for Alec took me totally by surprise. I think I struggled with that even more than I did in admitting that I wanted to submit to him. But ultimately, loving Alec won over. How could I resist?
I listened to them with attention. Their fingers were entwined at all times, and they both seemed to be lost in the other’s words. Alec liked his woman’s response, or so I thought by the satisfaction that sparkled in his eyes. “Good girl.” Dylan’s body went completely submissive, but so did mine. Oh my… that voice… Shaking my head, I focused again on the interview. This time I turned around to face Eve. “I know you must be bored of the same questions, but I’m particularly curious about what you think about the Fifty Shades phenomenon. Does it bother you the ‘discovery’ of this ‘new’ genre?”
*I’m thrilled about it! Of course, erotica and BDSM fiction have been around for many years—I wrote my first BDSM novel, THE DARK GARDEN (written under my other pen name, Eden Bradley) back in 2005—but the fact that Fifty Shades has brought these kinds of books to the attention of the mainstream reader is wonderful, for readers and for writers. And I love that it has allowed women to be more open about admitting to their sexual desires.
“Because of this phenomenon, now there are a lot of romance books based on BDSM. Would you go further in erotica to try to outstand in the big tide of erotic books that are now being published?” *Well, again, I’ve been writing BDSM for a very long time, and as someone who is actually involved in the lifestyle that’s always going to be very natural for me. So yes, I’ll be writing a lot more BDSM books!
Alright… I felt it was time to change the subject. Fifty Shades had already gotten too much prominence already. By their faces, I could guess they thought the same as well.
“In Spain the second book of the series is about to be released. Can you tell us a little bit about it? What are we gonna find in it?”
*Book Two, which is called DESIRE’S EDGE here in the US, is about Alec’s best friend Dante and Kara, a woman he’s known since high school. The kink is a bit less hard-core in this book—I’d probably call it a spanking book, mainly, although there are a few other interesting things going on, of course. But if you’ve ever fantasized about being bent over a desk and spanked by a tall, dark, gorgeous man, then this might be the book for you! And Dante is…well…he just makes me melt.
Both Alec and Dylan nodded and smiled. They knew something I didn’t, but I would find out anyways.
“So that means this second book will be more intense than the first one? Can you tell us some experiences from when you were writing it?”
*This is a very emotional book, and I think Kara is a woman so many of us can relate to. I often listened to music before sitting down to write this book—moody songs about love. I was in love at the time, myself, which made that journey more intense for me. I cried while writing the ending of the story!
Oh, I was liking this stuff. I could barely wait to read it already! Eve grinned at me, as if reading my thoughts, and I smiled her back. I wasn’t done yet!
“Almost everyone thought you were going to pair Mischa and Dante when reading the first book. How come they won’t end up together?”
*Mischa has her own path to follow, which you’ll find out about when Book Three releases there! And really, Dante and Mischa are not each other’s types. Mischa, a tattoo artist, is a bit of a wild child, and Dante is the smooth attorney. He definitely has his bad boy side, but he keeps it under wraps most of the time. Mischa’s perfect match is another friend of Alec and Dante’s—a man whose bad boy side is loud and clear. I can’t wait for you to meet Connor!
Ohh… that was interesting. Then, I checked my watch, I still had time till I had to come back to the airport and come back to Malaga to finish and edit the interview. Turn to spill the last question and get out of this extremely awkward place. “So, lastly, I would like you to tell something to all our Spanish readers that are awaiting expectantly the next novel in the series. I know they love when authors do that!”
*I think you’re going to fall in love with Dante, and want Kara to be your best friend. These two together are hot and sensual---I definitely had to keep a fan on my desk while I was writing their love scenes! And there are a few twists to the story…but I can’t tell you—you’ll just have to read it when it comes out!
“Thank you, Eve. It’s been a pleasure!” I said pulling my pad into my purse. This was going to be great when all the corrections and editing were made. Alec, then, approached me and smirked. “I hope you don’t have to leave so soon” There was promise in his voice, but I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not… yet. “Eh, I-I…” “So?” “Yeah. I still have time” I managed to say. Dylan smiled at me and then at Alec. Oh geez… That couldn’t be good. “Good girl.” Alec finally pronounced, then the door opened and a really muscled and tall guy entered. Oh my, was he hot! “I want you to meet someone…” See? I knew it! I was gonna end up tied up somewhere in Seattle!

Entrevista a Abbi Glines
¡Hola lectoras y lectores!

~*~*~*~
Hey Abbi! Thank you for having us today. I’m so happy about knowing you a little bit further, and I bet a lot of Spanish readers are too.
Thank you for having me. I'm honored that I have Spanish readers!
As I always start this section, I would like you to explain a little bit what your series are about. What are we going to find in them?Romance is the only common factor in all my books. Well... and sex. I have four different series. I have a paranormal series- Existence. It is the story of a girl whose time to die has arrived but Death shows up and falls in love with her first. My young adult contemporary romance series is The Vincent Boys. It is about two cousins who are best friends. They do everything together. And they're in love with the same girl. My first new adult contemporary romance series is The Sea Breeze series- It is a series following different characters in the series as they fall in love, have hot sex, and face challenges. My newest series is the Too Far series. Although it is being considered by many a new adult genre. I believe it is more adult. The sex scenes are more explicit than in any of my other books.
That sounds so, so interesting! Is there any deeper message you want to give with your novels or your characters? Anything you want your readers to learn from them?
Nothing is easy. If you want something you have to fight for it because life isn't a fairytale. I love to give happily ever afters but sometimes there are things that happen that aren't fixed in the end of the story because that's life. Not everything is wrapped up in a pretty bow.
Every author is also a reader. What do you like to read in your free time? Is there any other author you like and use to inspire yourself? In your stories, your way of writing..?
I read adult contemporary romance for the most part. I have my favorite authors and I always make time to read what they have released when I get a chance. I don't have a writer that inspires me. I want to be different and I worry that having an author that I learn from will in return make me write more like them. My inspiration comes from music and strange dreams.
I’ve heard your publishing house in USA already sold the translation rights to another one in Spain. I can’t wait! What can you tell us about that? When will it be released? And can we know the name of the publishing house? Or is it Top Secret?
I actually sold the rights to The Vincent Boys and The Vincent Brothers to a publisher in Spain. My agent contracted the deal. It is with Destino. I do not know when they will release the book but they will be putting The Vincent Boys and The Vincent Brothers in one large book.
That’s great! Have you planned coming to Spain for a book signing? I can assure you, we would love it!
I would LOVE to come to Spain. Once I have actual books there I am definitely making plans.
There are some readers who like to have an actor or a model already in their heads in order to imagine the characters in a better way. If The Vincent Boys or The Vincent Brothers were to be filmed, which actors would you choose for them?
This one is hard for me. As Sawyer Vincent I see Penn Badgley and as Beau Vincent I see Cam Gigandet.
Niice! And now a hard question *laughs*. Why should Spanish readers buy and read your soon-to-be published books here? How are they different to anything we’ve read before?
Because the Vincent Boys play football, look amazing shirtless, wear boots with their low riding jeans, are really good at talking dirty, and of course they have sex in the back of their trucks.
Thank you so much, Abbi! It’s been a pleasure to interview you. I’m sure we will hear about you a lot in the future!
Thank you. I loved the questions.

Entrevista a Samantha Kane
¡Buenas lectoras y lectores!

~*~*~*~
Hello Samantha! Thank you for letting me interview you! When did you start writing? You knew immediately your genre was Historical Romance and Erotica or you kind of discovered it later? I started writing fiction as a child. I won a local writing contest with a rather dramatic poem when I was in the 4th grade. I don't have the poem anymore, and can't quite recall what it was about. In high school I was editor of the school newspaper and wrote editorials. I wrote freelance editorials for my college paper. I majored in History in college and started thinking about writing a book, but didn't actually start my first romance novel until several years later when I was in graduate school. I earned a Master's degree in American History and I taught high school History for almost ten years. When my first son was born my husband took a new job halfway across the country and I decided to take time off from teaching. I finished the book I'd started so many years ago (it's in my file cabinet awaiting a rewrite), joined Romance Writer's of America, and wrote and sold my first erotic romance to Ellora's Cave. Because of my educational and teaching background, and my love of reading Historical Romance, it was a natural choice when I began writing. After I joined Romance Writer's of America I discovered erotic romance as a reader. I fell in love with the genre and decided to write a book specifically to submit to Ellora's Cave. It worked. :)
I could read the ARC you gave me last August of "The Devil's Thief", and although I knew it was historical romance, I found it surprising because I know that your erotica books are really, really hot. I expected more of it there. So, can you tell us a little bit about all the series you have out in the market right now?
Well, The Devil's Thief, and the entire new series, The Saint's Devils, are mainstream romances from Random House, much different from my erotic romances. The Saint's Devils is about a group of rakes who have been friends since their school days. Sir Hilary St. John is the group's unofficial leader, and the Saint in the series title, and he's a kind of Sherlock Holmes character who helps the other Saints solve a mystery involving the heroine in each book. The new series is still considered rather steamy, but there's far less explicit language and sexual situations than in my erotic romances. The romance in these books is strictly m/f. The second book in the series, Tempting a Devil, will be released on July 8, 2013.
Brothers in Arms is my best-selling erotic romance series about veterans of the Peninsular War. This series is menage romance and contains male/male, male/female and male/male/female romance and sexual situations. The series is centered around Englishmen who fought in the Peninsular War and suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome and/or physical injuries from the war. These men have paired off as best friends who share women or as lovers. Now that they have returned to England they are looking for a woman who is willing to take them both in a committed relationship, marrying one of the men and sharing the second man as lover. This series contains very explicit language and sexual situations. There are currently ten books in this series and I'm working on the next one, which will feature one of the main characters in the series, Daniel Steinberg.
I have one book out in a contemporary male/male romance series centered on a small North Carolina town called Mercury. The book is Cherry Pie, and it's about an ex-con, Connor Meecham, who used to be the high school football hero who returns to Mercury to try to get his life back on track. His mother is dead and her house in now owned by John Ford, who left his life in California and moved to Mercury when his long term partner died. John offers Conner a job and a place to stay. Eventually Mercury and their growing love for one another help both men start their lives over again. The second book, Cherry Bomb, will hopefully be out next year. These books are erotic.
If you could pick only a book of all the ones you have published as your favorite (because it's the most special for you or something), which it would be and why?
Each book is special in its own way. I love them all. But I think I'd have to say Cherry Pie is my favorite because it's sort of a love letter to my home, North Carolina. The book was inspired by a song by Miranda Lambert called The House That Built Me. The first time I heard that song I cried and Cherry Pie leapt into my mind almost fully written. It's a very emotional story about second chances and the power of love and friendship and home.
Going now more with the erotica. You know now that genre is getting pretty famous between readers. How do you feel about that?
It makes me laugh. I've been writing erotic romance for about seven years. I've been reading it a little longer than that. It's not new. When I see all these stories in the news about the "new" genre of erotic romance I just shake my head. I am glad, however, that more readers are turning to erotic romance and it's losing it's taboo status. It's fun, it's sexy, and it's great romance.
You mentioned you also write homo-erotica. That type of erotica is still not very spread and some readers don't really accept it because they don't feel it. What makes you write about it?
Romance is romance. I began writing m/m romance as part of my menage series, Brothers in Arms. I'd read other menage stories where the men were not sexually involved and found them unbelievable. If you are going to get naked in bed with someone, you are open to the possibilities, right? So I took it a step further. I thought it brought more emotion and tension to the stories and made them much more believable. I've been told by readers who have never read m/m romance before that they are surprised by how much they enjoy that aspect of the books. They feel, as I do, that the romance is the most important thing, and the love story between the men is as romantic as the love story with the heroine.
A lot of Spanish readers already know you even though you're not published here yet, officially. How does it feel to know that a lot of people outside the US already know your novels even without being published?
I was surprised to hear this question! I had no idea that I had Spanish readers. As you said, I'm not officially published there. I do get fan mail from around the world. I think I have a lot of Brazilian readers, as well, based on fan mail. It's thrilling. I love the idea that people I don't know are reading and enjoying my books. As a reader, there is nothing better than a great book that takes me away to a different time or place and makes me fall in love. To know that I'm creating that experience for others is always a thrill for me. We really are becoming a global community because of the internet, so I hope that more readers outside the US will be able to discover my books.
Any special comments to all the Spanish readers that are having the chance to know you today? Wow, no pressure here. LOL I guess I'd just like to tell them that no matter what genre or category my books fall under--whether it's historical, contemporary or erotic--my focus is always the romance. I write emotional, character driven stories that always have a happy ending.
Thank you so much Samantha!

A mí me gusta muchísimo cómo escribe Lena.
Muchas buenísimas, otras no tan buenas.
No voy a mentir.

* * *
As she looked at her agenda, a smile appeared on Yuliss’ lips. She couldn’t believe the day had finally come for her. The day she would actually meet Alexandra Ivy and have the opportunity to interview her face to face. Wasn’t it exciting?
Her phone chose that moment to interrupt her little oh-my-god moment and bring her back to reality. Looking down at the device she expected it to be some bad news from the magazine—the interview was cancelled, the author wouldn’t work with them, and so on. It was always bad news, right?
Well, not this time. And not that she complained about it at all, but she couldn’t help being a little disappointed. Where was the tension in this job?, she thought rolling her eyes.
Whatever.
Deleting the text message from her phone company trying to sell her a new mobile plan, she put the agenda down on the desk again and turned towards the mirror. She had to be perfect!
Once that was settled, she looked at the clock for the millionth time today. The hotel she was staying in in Chicago wasn’t too far from where she had to meet Alexandra, so ironically the wait was completely and irrevocably killing her.
“Time, move faster!” Yuliss said, frustrated that seconds wouldn’t last half of the time they normally do.
Okay, girl… you’re just thinking too much.
Indeed she was. But hell, maybe she should just leave now and meet Alexandra already!
“God, I’m going crazy” she said out loud, the little tic-tac of the clock going through her ears. “I need to get out of here.”
And so she did.
Alexandra Ivy waited for her next to the Bean, a smile on her face. Her pale skin and short hair just made her nicer. And actually, Yuliss was a little bit shocked about the place she had chosen to do the interview. Some of the authors just wanted reporters to send them the questions via email and be done with it faster that way. The fact that Alexandra wanted to meet her made Yuliss be even more excited.
“Hello, Alexandra!”
“Well, hi, sweetie. I’m glad you didn’t get lost in this big city.”
She laughed. That was right, in Spain there weren’t cities like this.
“Yeah, although I wouldn’t mind getting lost here with certain characters…” Yuliss trailed off, a hint hidden behind her words.
Alexandra laughed as well, her friendly sound joining the city’s other noises.
“That’s why I wanted to meet you here, Yuliss. We’re gonna get lost together in the streets of Chicago…”
“Oh, sounds like a good plan!” She yelled happily, starting to walk besides the author.
Yuliss didn’t know where they were heading, but she didn’t care. She had Alexandra Ivy for herself for a little while, and she was sure as hell she wasn’t going to waste any minute of her time with her.
“Alright, Alexandra. I was wondering, how did you get to create The Guardians of Eternity? Was it a dream, or a silly idea that became something bigger?”
"The Guardians were actually born out of my love for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I absolutely loved the combination of horror and humor and romance. It was different from anything I’d ever seen before and inspired me to try and create my own world of paranormal creatures."
“Oh, nice. And I was really curious to know, because in Spain we always have the feeling that if an author is from the United States, they are automatically going to have more opportunities to get published, how was your publishing process? Did you have to try in several publishing houses before Dante and Abby got a chance to get seen?”
"Oh yes!! It took almost ten years for me to get published. To be honest, any reasonable person would have given up after the first fifty rejections J Thankfully I’m nothing if not persistent and eventually my historical MY LORD CARLTON was published by Zebra Regencies. After that I wrote thirty three historicals under the names Debbie Raleigh and Deborah Raleigh before moving onto paranormals under the name Alexandra Ivy."
The conversation was pretty interesting, and Yuliss barely knew where they were anymore. Not that she cared, anyway. She had better things to be focused on.
“So we could say that getting the offer to be published in Spain was a great surprise for you, right? Can you describe how they gave you the big news?”
"It was a wonderful honor when my publisher called to tell me that I would be published in Spain. It’s a thrill to think my books being halfway around the world. I’m also aware that Spanish readers are very dedicated to romance and the ability to share the Guardians of Eternity with them if very exciting!!"
Some dark alleys were coming into sight, and even though the conversation was being really interesting, Yuliss couldn’t help but stop walking. Alexandra Ivy turned around, confused by why she had stopped all out of a sudden.
“Where are we going, exactly?” Yuliss asked.
“Trust me… you’ll like it” was all she answered. And well, what could she say? Darkness was tempting but also scary… sometimes.
“You know… when I was reading When Darkness Comes, I was really transported to the story; mostly because of all the funny comments that Abby says all the time. Is it easy for you to incorporate these “laugh” moments to you books or is it something you need to have so the reader don’t get bored?”
"Humor is very much apart of my writing. Even when I was writing historicals there were characters that could give readers a laugh. When I started with the paranormals I actually wanted them to be dark and brooding. I love try those types of stories, but I swiftly learned that it’s just not my ‘voice’. Even when I was trying to be dark I would end up with a silly gargoyle."
“Well, well, well. Look who we have here visiting us…” a voice said behind them. A male voice. Yuliss started to turn around, hoping the guy didn’t have too bad intentions toward them.
Oh my God…
“Dante?” She asked, speechless. Alexandra had already gone ahead and greeted him. Obviously, he was her character!
“The same” he said, smirking. “Abby should be here in no time. But yeah… you know how females are. ‘I’ll be there in a minute, baby!’ and then it isn’t a minute.”
Both Alexandra and Yuliss looked at him raising an eyebrow. Then the latter turned to look at the author directly in the eye.
“So is the arrogance, and the ego, something that we will find in all the males in this series. Because I gotta say it’s sexy as hell.”
"Oh yes. Although I try to make each hero unique with his own backstory and their own strengths as well as vulnerabilities. But there’s a definite vibe of arrogance with all of them. I just can’t imagine an immortal male with endless power as anything other than arrogant!!"
“I know, I’m hot and girls wanna do me” Dante said, grinning at them.
“Oh I know, baby. But I’m the only one that is gonna do you” Abby appeared besides her mate. “Be nice to the ladies”
Geez, she was pretty. Actually the perfect woman for the old vampire.
“Talk to me about Abby. We have seen her life has been hard, and now she has found the man of her dreams. What made you make her like you did?
"I tried to give Abby the sort of vulnerabilities that most women feel. We haven’t all been abused, but we’ve had to face adversities and overcome difficult times. And in the end her trials have made her a stronger, more independent woman who is more than capable of taking an arrogant vampire as her mate. They’re equal partners."
“In United States the series goes for its 10th book. But do you already know how is it going to end? Or are you still planning on writing a lot more books in the series?”
“Yeah, that’s a nice one!” Dante said, giving Yuliss a high five.
"Book nine actually has a small conclusion to a storyline, but the Guardians do go on...actually I’m working on book eleven right now. I haven’t really considered the end of the series. I hope I’ll know when it’s time to move on, but for now I love, love, love writing them!"
“I’ve seen that you have one more paranormal series already going on in America. Have you ever tried to write something different to vampires, demons and witches? Or, rather, would you like to try something different after them?”
Abby looked at Alexandra, waiting for her answer as much as Yuliss did. The author seemed to think a little before starting to talk again.
"I actually started writing historical romances and I really miss them. I loved the research, the elegance of the past...the alpha men. In the future I’d love to try a high fantasy like Game of Thrones by George RR Martin. I can’t imagine how fun the world building would be and the opportunity to develop characters over thousands of pages!"
“That is cool! I also would love to know if you have any favorite author that you try to imitate. You know, the way of writing, the style, and that stuff. Who is your ‘writing goddess’ or ‘writing god’?”
"Jane Austen! Which is odd for a paranormal writer, I know, but I love her humor, her ability to create characters that have endured for centuries. I can’t imagine anyone better to try and imitate."
The end was coming to the interview, and Yuliss didn’t want it to finish. All the responses were being really interesting, and for god’s sake! She met Dante and Abby! How many people can say that? She was sure not too many.
Or maybe it’s because she was crazy? Anyway…
“And lastly, before I have to head back to the hotel, a question I always ask in all my interviews. Would you like to say something special to all the Spanish readers?”
"I’m sooooo excited to introduce the series to Spanish readers! I’ve truly loved creating the Guardians of Eternity and each book has a special place. I never forget that it’s because of my fabulous readers that I’ve been allowed to continue writing the books of my heart! So a huge thank you for giving me this fabulous opportunity!!"
“I would love to go to Spain, Alexandra” Abby said, eyeing Dante, who nodded as well. “It’s a wonderful country we should visit soon, for holidays or a book signing…”
Yuliss laughed. She really liked the woman.
“That’s actually a very good idea. I want to see you there sometime!”
“We’ll see what we can do” was all that Alexandra said. Obviously these things weren’t happening just because she wanted to. Ugh, Publishing houses stuff. Fun, fun.
“Alright, seriously, thank you so, so much for the interview, Alexandra. It’s been so nice to meet you all guys” Yuliss said, her face sad and happy at the same time.
“No, thank you for the opportunity, girl. I hope to see you again soon!”
“Bye, Yuliss. A pleasure meeting you” Abby was the one saying that.
But when she waited for the last one, Dante, to say something, he just came forward and locked his eyes with hers.
“Now you won’t remember us…” he started pronouncing, his voice so soft. “But it’s been an honor to meet you today.”
Yuliss blinked, disoriented for a moment. But then she remembered, oh right! The interview! She had to go back to the hotel and type it all down and send it to the person in charge. She had the feeling this was going to be awesome, and she couldn’t wait to see it published already.

Hey, Adrian. First of all, thank you for being with us today, I'm so glad you could make it!
Thank you so much for having me. It was a pleasure meeting you in New Orleans at AAD!
To begin with, since no one in Spain knows your novels. Could you explain us a little bit what are your novels about? Why have you chosen Urban-Fantasy?
I would love to. To answer your last question first, I don’t choose a particular genre to write. I write the story and it is whatever it turns out to be. In other words, the characters and the world in which they live determines the genre. I always start with a character and build from there. The Maker’s Song series (A Rush of Wings, In the Blood, Beneath the Skin, Etched in Bone, and coming in 2013 On Midnight Wings) is about vampires and fallen angels and government conspiracies and takes place mainly in New Orleans; it is also about Dante and Heather and their struggle to keep alive while uncovering the dark and torturous secrets of Dante’s past, and fighting to free him from that past. The Hoodoo series (Black Dust Mambo, Black Heart Loa, and coming in 2013 Black Moon Mojo) is about hoodoo apprentice Kallie and her family and friends down in the bayous of Louisiana. She deals with murder and mystery and magic, while trying to piece together the puzzle of a past she nearly didn’t survive. This series, while dark, also has a lot of humor. That really sounds interesting! To write The Maker's Song series, what did you get your inspiration from? Why vampires?Thank you! I got my inspiration from New Orleans and the music of Nine Inch Nails, the Downward Spiral album in particular. It wasn’t so much that I wanted to write a story about vampires, I wanted to write Dante’s story and he just happened to be vampire.
A lot of readers and publishers now are very tired of vampires because they think the genre has already told everything about them. I know that’s not true. What do you think the readers will love in your book that is different than other vampire books already published here?
I’m with you, I don’t think the vampire genre will ever truly be exhausted. Every write has their own take and their own mythology and create very different worlds. I think readers will love the characters, along with their interactions, and the dark and lush New Orleans setting they live in. Dante is so much more than a “normal” vampire, he’s the frontman for an industrial rock band, Inferno, and is tough and defiant, yet loyal and loving to those he cares about, willing to sacrifice himself for his friends. He is a rare born vampire, a True Blood, and much, much more, so his experiences are much different from turned vampires. Heather is a mortal FBI agent, compassionate and strong, who looks beyond the surface. The story also has Lucien, a fallen angel, and Von, a nomad (pagan gypsy-styled biker clans), who is also a bard/warrior/historian for the vampire race. The story is told from multiple points of view and is fast-paced.Now, let’s talk about Dante… That sexy and gorgeous man who has already stolen my heart, for real. What makes Dante special for you? Did you create him before or after creating Heather?
*whispers* I’ll let Dante know. *winks* Dante is pretty special to me too. I created him first, and then the story started falling into place. Heather was second and she’s very dear to my heart too.
The relationship between those two, Heather and Dante. How could you describe it? What will we find in the books?
Their relationship is special, I think. It’s built on honesty and trust and a deep passion for one another. Yes, Heather gets jealous once in a while, she is human, after all, but it never touches her love for Dante. They were made for one another. I think they are soul mates.
If you had to choose one of your characters in The Maker’s Song series or in the Hoodoo series, to be the one that you find the hardest to write about, who would it be? Why?
That’s a tough question! I really don’t have trouble writing about any of the characters. Belladonna in the Hoodoo series is so funny, she’s a blast to write; and even the twisted Elroy Jordan in A Rush of Wings was fun to write.
In this other series you have, the Hoodoo one, we can’t really know in the back cover if there’s going to be a male hero to fall in love with. Do you think Kallie will trap out hearts in the same way Dante and Heather did in The Maker’s Songseries? Why?Kallie has a very strong interest in the nomad Layne Valin in the Hoodoo books. He’s also a Vessel, one whose body can house the spirits of the dead. There’s quite a bit of heat between them. *winks* I think Kallie will capture your heart in a different way; she’s fiercely loyal to friends and family, hot-tempered, and the teasing banter between her and her best friend Belladonna is something readers here have loved.
Alright, and just one last question. Now that you have all Spanish readers in front of you, would you like to send them a special message? *Whispering* I know we love that kind of things… ha, ha, ha.
I’d love to! Gracias for taking the time to get to know a little bit about me and my books. I truly appreciate it. I hope you’ll give the books a try. Below are links to chapters from the first book in each series and links to social networks where you can contact me. I’m absolutely thrilled to be meeting my first Spanish audience and I hope to hear from you.
You can read a chapter from the first book in The Maker’s Song series. Here’s the first chapter of A Rush of Wings. Here’s the first chapter of Black Dust Mambo . (Hoodoo Book 1) Website, Facebook Fan Page , Twitter, MySpace, Goodreads Pocket After Dark
Thank you so much again, Adrian. And I hope we can see you in our bookstores shelves soon! It’s been so nice meeting you. *Hugs*
Thank you for having me, Yuliss! I had a blast! *Hugs*

¿me odiáis?
¿fama?
¡No sé nada!
Yo no. Anoche no me hiciste daño.
—me ordena.—¡Uno! —chillo.Me hace bien chillar. No quiero llorar. Me enfurece estar llorando. Christian me vuelve a pegar.—¡Cinco! Me revuelvo.—¡No me toques!
(NO, ANASTASIA… O jeez! Me muero vaya. Anastasia me cae MAL. A ver si sucede…En fin, aquí acabo. Ehhh… no, gracias.

¿me odiáis?
¿fama?
¡No sé nada!
