I spent fifteen years at sea, starting at entry level and working my way up to senior officer. I served as both Guest Services Director and Cruise Director, running everything from reception, rooms, housekeeping, and laundry to theatre shows, activities, the on board newspaper, the ship's television channels, and the music program. I piloted and ran destination immersion programs from Hawaii, working with Kānaka Maoli communities, to New Zealand with Māori hosts. I have sailed around the world twice, leading crews drawn from seventy nationalities.

I also write the Ask the Officer column for Euro Weekly News.
