My name is Jesse Duckworth and I primarily write fantasy. A friend and I co-created a world in 2007 and after just over 5 years of creating and writing, I am trying to get some of our works out there for people to read. My debut novella, A Song of Betrayal, was released on Amazon on September 1st, 2013. In addition, I have many short stories that will either end up on here or will be published on other venues.

During this time, we created a small publishing company called Harren Press that will market our works. If you want to keep track of what Harren Press is doing, we are on facebook or you can go to our site www.harrenpress.com.

If you have a moment, check out the excerpt from A Song of Betrayal and tell me what you think. Every bit of y

Writing is NOT a Solo Adventure

When I was young, I spent most of my time playing video games. I picked up every RPG title that I could sucker my parents into buying. My favorite characters/classes became those that were versatile. In MMORPGs, I chose Red Mages or Hunters. I stuck to classes where I didn’t have to depend on anyone but my own skills. It was a solo adventure.

I started writing with much of the same mindset. It wa Read more of this blog post »

George R.R. Martin
“I think there are two types of writers, the architects and the gardeners. The architects plan everything ahead of time, like an architect building a house. They know how many rooms are going to be in the house, what kind of roof they're going to have, where the wires are going to run, what kind of plumbing there's going to be. They have the whole thing designed and blueprinted out before they even nail the first board up. The gardeners dig a hole, drop in a seed and water it. They kind of know what seed it is, they know if planted a fantasy seed or mystery seed or whatever. But as the plant comes up and they water it, they don't know how many branches it's going to have, they find out as it grows. And I'm much more a gardener than an architect.”
