Desert Thoughts
"Many say, “Nothing happens in the desert.” But no, everything happens here! The light of my candle flickers, I hear distant conversations in Arabic . . . shared laughter, an invisible guitar . . . strumming.
No. Not one grain of sand is static in the desert.
Voices humming, a lone flashlight sweeping the sand, red and blue flashing lights of an airplane gliding through the sky, possibly on its way from Beirut to Cairo.
And Sayid told me, “Don’t let the beauty of the desert deceive you, Ayishah. It is the Wild West out there; a big chess game going on in Sinai’s wilderness. The smugglers know the area well. They blend in with the stones. People here are on desert time. In this biblical wilderness, ambushes and pursuits can last for days. The Bedouin have one great advantage; patience . . ."
My last candle dies out, and I write these last words in the dark.

A Bedouin Love Ritual
A young Bedouin man sees a shepherd girl in the valley. Mystified by her beauty, he is obsessed with desire for her. Prancing on his camel, he gains the girl’s attention and dismounts next to a large rock.
He draws his footprint into the rock with a chalk colored stone . . all the while, making sure the girl is still watching.
Then he places the piece of white chalk on top of the rock and still watching the girl’s every movement, he hides himself behind the nearest cliff. The girl walks over to the rock; lifting her bare foot inside his footprint, she traces it inside his.
Now he knows; the girl desires him as well.
“Tell me, is this a true story or a legend?” “Well, you are welcome to believe it or not, as you prefer . . . "
(Excerpt from novel: 'While the Sands Whisper)

The Virgin Novelist
H*E*L*P:
Wanted: Marketing Chief/Secretary & Dishwasher
Like giving birth to 3 children, each time i said, "Never again!" ... and now, I've given birth to my second publication, this time a novel; a birth with several Almost Miscarriages on the way; yet a magnificent journey.
But since July 5, the birthday of my novel,
'While the Sands Whisper,' my life has turned upside-down! Sheer Chaos. Not one minute of the day or night left for creative writing. If you say A, then u say B... It's now or never! SOMEbody's gotta promote this... Guess it's me!
I need to share moments of this inner conflict with fellow writers... as THIS writer is slowly being gobbled up by the Cyperspace Spider Web...
New thoughts on their way to you soon!
Lots more coming soon; keep tuned
