William Ash is the author of Tibet: Hikari-to-no-deai, published in Japan; Between Two Rivers: A Year at Bates-Morse Mountain Conservation Area; Futon Daiko: A Japanese Festival; and Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Emptiness: Tokyo Landscape. His work has appeared in publications such as Nippon Camera and Marie Claire Japon. His photographs have been exhibited in Japan and in the US, including at the Kodak Photo Salon in Tokyo.

He lives in Maine with his wife and a Newfoundland dog.
