Cover Blurb to Thief of Hearts!

Hello, all.

First, thank you to whoever added Thief of Hearts to the Goodreads site. I appreciate it!

I have finally fixed the blurb to Thief of Hearts. It gives you a pretty good idea of the set up to this book. It is a bit of a departure to the first two books in the series, and I am super excited to write it! I can't wait to delve into this plot line and give Rowan the high romance he deserves. This will definitely be a swashbuckler.

It will also provide a lot more insight into the state of the world outside of Merry Old England in my version of 19th century "Steam Age" history. At the same time, I have to resolve certain events in the last book with the events of this book. It will definitely be a bit of a Whovian journey to give Hex and Rowan their HEA.

Hope you enjoy! Here is the blurb, and if you haven't already, please add Thief Of Hearts to your to-read list!

Thief of Hearts

Book 3 in the Elders and Welders Chronicles

1888: Egypt ... or thereabouts ...

The Sahara Desert, hotbed of pirates, tomb raiders, angry bedouins, opportunists and general ne'er-do-wells, is not exactly the ideal place for a former child-thief to go straight. But Hex Bartholomew is trying to do just that, using her state-of-the-art dirigible--an ill-gotten but hard-won remnant of her past--to ferry tourists and scholars from one ancient attraction to another.

But her past comes back to haunt her when her con-artist father's latest misadventure lands them all squarely in the debt of Cairo's most notorious gang of thieves. That is how she finds herself in an uncharted part of the Sahara at the mouth of an ancient, undisturbed tomb, and in the company of bloody-minded treasure hunters, superstitious native guides, and a resurrected Pharaoh ...

... Or at least that was what the aforementioned natives believe when a man stumbles out of a tomb in a shocking state of undress. Hex is no blushing virgin, but she has certainly not seen anything quite like the ... spectacular specimen before her. He certainly looks like an ancient god. But Hex is fairly sure Pharaohs don't speak with a snooty British accent.

Mr. Pharaoh can remember nothing of who he is or how he managed to find himself in an Egyptian tomb that has been sealed for thousands of years. All he has is a name found in an inscription of his ring: Rowan. And some truly disturbing and ... well, God-like powers. And an annoying tendency to follow Hex around "protecting" her.

Ha.

As if she needs a man to protect her--especially an amnesiac Brit with a God complex. As if she needs to fall in love with said amnesiac, especially when it becomes obvious that the truth behind who--and what--Rowan is, threatens to tear them apart for all of time. It's just not worth the risk to her heart.

Until it is ...

Storms of Lazarus Cover Reveal

Check out my friend Karen Kincy’s great diesel punk series, Shadows of Asphodel. Book II, Storms of Lazarus, is out this July!!! Check this series out, and swoon over these great covers!

Shadows of Asphodel (Shadows of Asphodel #1)

She never asked for the undying loyalty of a necromancer.

1913. Austria-Hungary. Ardis knows better than to save a man on the battlefield. Even if he manages to be a charming bastard while bleeding out in the snow. She hasn’t survived this long as a mercenary without some common sense.

When she rescues Wendel, it isn’t because he's devilishly handsome, but because he's a necromancer. His touch can revive the dead, and Ardis worries he will return from the grave to hunt her down. Besides, a necromancer can be useful in this world on the brink of war.

A gentleman of questionable morals, Wendel drops to one knee and pledges his undying loyalty to Ardis. She resists falling for him, no matter how hot the tension smolders between them. Especially when she discovers Wendel's scars run much deeper than his skin, and it might be too late to truly save him from himself.

Storms of Lazarus (Shadows of Asphodel #2)

Sometimes escape is impossible. Sometimes love isn't enough.

1913. Christmas Eve. Ardis hardly expects a quiet holiday with Wendel, between fleeing Constantinople and hiding from an ancient society of assassins. And they owe a debt to a certain archmage.

In Königsberg, Prussia, they work with Konstantin on the next evolution of Project Lazarus. Wendel once called Königsberg home, the city now besieged by the Russians and their clockwork engines of war. This may be Wendel’s last chance to save his family and find redemption, but he's tormented by nightmares and tempted by laudanum. Ardis fears her love isn’t enough to save Wendel. Her hands are full piloting the automatons, and she's terrified to tell him a secret of her own. Will they—and their love—survive the storms of war?

Thief is done!

Thank God. I have finished Thief of Hearts. All I have left are some editing and proofreading, so I expect to have the book out some time this month. This one took me 2 1/2 years. I just hope the rest of the series doesn't come so slowly!
