On a night black as pitch and swirling with snow
I was traveling far with miles to go
Ahead in the distance in a valley below
I spied a small tavern with windows aglow
There was music and laughter and tankards of ale
And a bard by the hearth who was singing her tale
So I sat and I listened to the stories she told
Of maidens so fair and brave knights of old
My spirit grew merry as my thirst I did quench
And I vowed to return to the Old Saucy Wench
