I was born in Orange County, California and grew up in the "surf city" of Huntington Beach.

I first discovered my love for writing in high school and became a member of Quill and Scroll, an international honorary society. During my senior year, I was chosen to receive the Written Communications award at my high school out of a student body of over one thousand. At the time, it was a big dream come true.

After graduation, I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Communications and English. I earned my teaching credential and taught 4th grade for three years and developed English Literature and Writing Curriculum for Irvine Unified School District and the California Association for the I was born in Orange County, California and grew up in the "surf city" of Huntington Beach.

I was married in 1998, moved to Redondo Beach California, and continued teaching in 6th and 7th grade Language Arts and developing novel-based curriculum for the district. As a teacher, my passion was teaching young adults how to discover their voice and express themselves in theatrical performances as well as creative and expository writing.

Currently, I make my home in Goodyear, Arizona, but at heart, I will always be a Southern California girl. I am a busy wife and mother of three children: Christian, Gwyneth and Noah, who all make me incredibly proud and grateful to be a part of their exciting discoveries, triumphs and learning experiences that life consistently offers. I teach 6th grade English and history at The Odyssey Preparatory Academy and after school drama. I feed my dramatic appetite by writing the dramatic scholar plays and musical productions for the Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies and after school drama. I feed my dramatic appetite by writing the dramatic scholar plays and musical productions for the annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater fundraiser for the school. Right now, our goal is to build a performing arts center that may be shared by our creative talented scholars and the Phoenix West Valley community.

I believe that if you lift mental pressure to be perfect, you tell yourself, "I am just going to write. I may not use a thing I create today. I may edit it all away. That's okay. Play with the words and the story, and see what comes." Discipline defeats writer's block. At least it does for me!(less)

It's a place more than a craft where you can escape the world and its demands and pressures for an hour or two or three. It's a playground to me where you sit in a sandbox of words that are just waiting for you to manipulate and place in such a way that might touch the heart of someone else faraway that I may never meet. I love that connection. Writing transcends time, place, age...it takes us all on a journey together where we can experience some cathartic release and remember that while we have differences, there are so many more things that make us alike and draw us together in a similar struggle, pursuit, and triumph.
