I am the daughter of hard working Southerners, the wife of a United States Soldier, and a self-proclaimed nerd fighter. When I'm not writing, I'm working in mental health or allowing nursing school to slowly steal pieces of my soul. In anything I do, I'm observing my surroundings for what or who to write about next. So yeah, I'm basically a weirdo. I write New Adult and Adult novels; the stories in my head sometimes come out as Contemporary Romance and sometimes they come out as a mess. I let my readers be the judge of the genre.

Lowlife is the second book and conclusion of the Bottom Feeder novels, though not the last you will see of its characters. The first book in the new series, yet to be titled, is scheduled to be released in late Win

I don't want to give anything away, so I 'll just say I have a few things up my proverbial sleeve that I hope will help the series standout. At the very least I'm hoping I can stand proudly beside other great MC series'. My goal is that when you read the introduction to the Steel Hippios series, the question will be immediately be answered. (less)

Yes, Reaver 6 is a real person. He was in the same unit as my husband when we were at Bragg.

After the run-in with the schmublisher, I'm not sure about traditional publishing. I like the freedom of self-publishing, but my ultimate goal is to begin my own publishing company in the way distance future.

I don't want to have any spoilers, but the child will be making an appearance in the Steel Hippios novels.

It was never planned, but the more I get this question, the more I am liking the idea more. Maybe not a full-length novel, but I am leaning towards a novella in between Steel Hippios novels. (less)

New Release and Giveaway

Happy Monday, y'all!

As some of you know, Night Moves will be released in late March (sooner if the editor pushes it back to me with the go-ahead). I will be giving away Night Moves for free to the first fifty or so people who comment on the post the day it is released. This is the reason I am not doing a pre-order for the book.

There will also be a giveaway for items mentioned in the book that are Read more of this blog post »

“But never underestimate me. Never. When life throws me a curve ball, I swing. Sometimes I hit, sometimes I miss, but you can bet every pressed suit in your closet that I give everything.”
Maria G. Cope, Lowlife: A Bottom Feeder Novel

“Being rejected by someone you knew you never stood a chance with is like pouring salt on a wound that already has salt in it. It preserves the hurt.”
Maria G. Cope, Bottom Feeder

“You cannot break me. I was broken long before I met you. I may be weak and I may be hurting, but I am still—and will always remain—on my feet.”
Maria G. Cope, Bottom Feeder

“But the truth doesn't need to be known, or believed, to be true.”
Chris Crutcher, Deadline

“From a distance,' he says, 'my car looks just like every other car on the freeway, and Sarah Byrnes looks just like the rest of us. And if she's going to get help, she'll get it from herself or she'll get it from us. Let me tell you why I brought this up. Because the other day when I saw how hard it was for Mobe to go to the hospital to see her, I was embarrassed that I didn't know her better, that I ever laughed at one joke about her. I was embarrassed that I let some kid go to school with me for twelve years and turned my back on pain that must be unbearable. I was embarrassed that I haven't found a way to include her somehow the way Mobe has.'

Jesus. I feel tears welling up, and I see them running down Ellerby's cheeks. Lemry better get a handle on this class before it turns into some kind of therapy group.

So,' Lemry says quietly, 'your subject will be the juxtaposition of man and God in the universe?'

Ellerby shakes his head. 'My subject will be shame.”
Chris Crutcher, Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes

“Like I said before, Rudy says, it's all about differences. Something about humans really doesn't like them, when they are the very thing we should embrace. If someone's different from you and it scares you or makes you mad, that's God telling you to take a closer look. If you're scared or mad, that's about you, not about the person who scares or angers you.”
Chris Crutcher

“It's easy to look back and say if things had been perfect, I could have accommodated all of those things into my life. But as a therapist I do not allow that word to be uttered in my office after the first session, because I believe the only reason for the existence of that word is to make us feel bad. It's the only word in the language (that I know of) that is defined in common usage by what can't be. It sets a vague standard that can't be met because it is never truly characterized. I prefer to think that we're all out here doing our best under the circumstances, looking at our world through the only eyes through which we can look at it: our own.”
Chris Crutcher, King of the Mild Frontier: An Ill-Advised Autobiography – The Riveting, Laugh-Out-Loud Funny Young Adult Coming-of-Age Memoir

“Then hearing Elvis today made me think I didn't have a lot to bitch about, but when I said that to Mr. Nak after group, he said, "Don't get to thinkin' just because some other guy's sinkin' in horse manure, the stuff up around your neck is chocolate puddin'. A wound is a wound, young Brewster. Remember that. Don't diminish the pain of your own just because you see some other gut-shot cowboy bleedin' to death.”
Chris Crutcher, Ironman
