Blurb:

Evan O’Conner isn’t a normal child. His father’s alcoholism and mother’s abuse drives him to concoct a plan to rid his life of them permanently. The night is fraught with a horrendous storm, thunder and lightning as the beast inside him is born. Even in her death his mother won’t leave. She haunts his subconscious as he attempts over and over to kill her.

Evan meets his match when Officer Burkhalder enters the picture. One of her closest friends and his family fall victim to violent deaths during the worst hurricane Billows Hollow has ever seen. With only a sketch she learns the identity of the perpetrator and digs into his life, pries into his past – hunting him. Will she stop him? Or will somebody else?

Excerpt:

Gala awoke to a blistering headache and a huge knot on the back of her head. Dried blood caked between her legs. Sharp pains forced their way from her vaginal area to her chest in waves. Hanging her head over the side of the seat, vomit spewed from her mouth in unforgiving torrents, covering her purse, thong and the floorboard of her car until dry heaves consumed her. Every inch of her body ached with pain - her soul severed.

A single thought raced through her mind. I want to go home. She fumbled through the thick vomit until she found the keys in her purse. Tears rolled down her cheeks as the entire scene played over and over in her mind. Slowly, using every bit of her strength, she lifted her body upwards and fell back against the seat. He’s gone. I’m alive.

With each deep breath her mind swam into focus. Her eyes scanned the empty parking lot, surveying the darkness surrounding her. With a burst of energy she locked her doors. With every move she made, the pain from her head shot down through her body, rendering it immobile. He might come back. She knew she needed to find the strength to leave before he did, or next time he’d kill her for sure.

Gala’s fear of her attacker kept her from opening the door. He might be waiting. He might be right outside the car. With the doors locked, he can’t get inside. She threw her keys into the driver’s seat.

Gathering her energy, she forced her legs between the front seats. Straddling the hump, she grasped both seats and heaved her body forward. She stopped to regain her energy, leaned her pounding head against the driver’s seat headrest and scanned the parking lot again. She saw more perched on the hump. The darkness around her, lighter than moments earlier, surrounded the bare parking lot. Morning, it’s almost dawn.

Her slide-collapse into the driver’s seat brought waves of pain bolting through her abdomen, followed by a shrill scream. Tears from pain and fear poured from her eyes as she started her car and flew out of the bare parking lot. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, attempting to see the road in front of her through the cracked windshield.

Gala cruised the winding country road, paying no mind to the road itself. An armadillo crossed her path, the tires of her car thumped over the hard shell causing her car to swerve. She jumped and lost control of the vehicle. The steering wheel spun in circles as if possessed causing the car to careen into a large ditch. Her body jolted forwards as the front end smashed into a wall of dirt.

For the second time in a few hours her life flashed before her eyes and she knew she would not walk away. Her head continued forward, blasting through the windshield, glass shattering. Her world went black.

New Release!

A year ago I wrote Eye of The Storm. It's a paranormal suspense thriller. It seemed fitting to write a scary story this close to Halloween. It now seems fitting to release it for Halloween.

It has been a journey getting the book to where it is. I wrote it for NaNoWriMo and uploaded the original doc. to smashwords where it continued to get a steady flow of downloads. I later published it one chapter at a time through Jukepopserials. I loved jukepop but for an already published author it didn't make sense so I took it off, had it edited and had a new cover designed.

The book in a years time has undergone some changes in the past year as well as the edition of the epilogue which sets the reader up for the prequel Calm Before The Storm. Not to get ahead of myself but the goal for the prequel is a year from now. There will also be a third book in the series.

For now I'm happy to say Eye of The Storm has been uploaded to Kindle where it awaits final conversions! Hopefully it will be available for preorder by tomorrow!

Check it out here https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
and feel free to add to your to be read list.

Happy Halloween!

Eye of The Storm

Recently, my novel Eye of The Storm Eilida's Tragedy was accepted to jukepopserials. It is an offbeat horror/paranormal thriller.

Novel's description

Sunshine's life is perfect nothing is ever out of whack. As a receptionist at a local paper she hears of a young woman who tragically takes a spill down Mt. Wilde during a rainstorm. After visiting her in the hospital Sunshine's world becomes distorted and voices inside her head begin to control her thoughts and actions. Her dreams become haunted and she fears she is losing her mind.

Excerpt from new chapter coming Thursday

She plucked her lipstick off the garage floor, and beeped her car. Her heart beat wildly in her chest, knocking to get free of her body, thump, thump, thump. Wasting no time she ran to her compact car, jumped inside, and locked the doors. Her deep blue eyes scanned the garage, looking for the perpetrator. She gathered herself together, taking a deep breath, knowing she still had to check the seat behind her, gradually she turned her head to peer at it, expecting there to be a maniacal killer raising his arms with a plastic bag in his hands to suffocate her. Sunshine placed her palm over her heart, a flood of air emerged from her lips as she released her breath, finding the back seat empty. She cranked the engine, and the tires chirped as her vehicle leapt from its parking spot. An isolated rumble of thunder let loose as she made a right turn out of the garage, a single dark cloud, hung in the sky, following her home.

I would love your vote on each chapter as they are released, button beneath each chapter segment. Thank you much!

A Bite

Here is a tasty yet unpublished morsel from my Baby Girl series.

“You look a lot like that model. You know the one who’s dating the really rich French guy, umm Jennifer… no Juniper… I got it,” He said as if he found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. “Justine!” Was it ever going to end? Would I always be Justine to people? I answered, “Sure, yup that’s me” His eyes grew wide and his mouth dropped from its jaw. I seriously thought I was going to have to catch it and glue it back on. “I’m joking. I haven’t properly introduced myself and since I bloodied your nose I suppose it’s the least I can do, “I’m Shanna.” He picked his jaw off the ground and said, “Nice to meet you Shanna”.

Latest Book Reviews

I believe I promote other authors more than myself so I'm going to take a minute and revel in the latest book reviews that both of my books received.

Baby Girl

By John R. Dizon
Baby Girl by Elle Klass is a urban fiction novella centering on the exploits of Cleo, a pre-teen urchin who lives on the streets and scavenges for food wherever she can find it. She comes across a trio of child vagabonds with whom she forms an alliance, leading Cleo along a thrilling yet dangerous new path in this engrossing piece of ‘street lit’. The author weaves a tale of adventure as well as addressing the topic of the growing community of homeless kids and their daily struggle for survival.

Klass never loses sight of the fact that this is a foursome of childhood friends, united in a bond far stronger than those forged in schoolyards or institutions. The theme of loyalty resonates throughout the novella as Cleo and her friends entertain fantasies of moving to France, despite the impossible odds facing those as destitute as themselves. Their dreams of travel entice them to live as hoboes, riding the rails across the country and foraging as best they can in the cities through which they pass. They travel as far west as Seattle before planning to cross country to New York in order to sneak onto a freight ship to France. Yet their best laid plans avail them nought as misfortune and tragedy catches up with them at last. It forces Cleo to move on alone as Book One of this series comes to a close.

The major male protagonist, Einstein, is aptly named as the leader and mastermind of the quartet. The group is split asunder by inevitable circumstances which lead to an epiphany for Cleo as she realizes her destiny as Einstein’s kindred spirit. Their relationship develops as they begin maturing together and come to a deeper understanding of the real world, along with the promise and responsibility it entails. When Einstein is taken from her, it is a different Cleo who emerges to face an uncertain future. Baby Girl by Elle Klass helps us realize what it takes for our unwanted children to find their way on their own.

and As Snow Falls

By Douglas A. Puryear
Format:Paperback
As Snow Falls, by Elle Klass, reads like a biographical novel, telling the life story of a woman from birth to death. While her life is not in itself particularly extraordinary, the story is compelling as she deals with the issues of life over a life span, and it gives the reader a real sense of the human condition.
The book could be seen as interweaving two romantic stories, but my take is more on the overall depiction of a life. Not many of us are extraordinary - renowned politician, star athlete, etc. - most of us are just ordinary people, and yet our lives, with the pains and joys, are interesting if examined. We put our hope in our children and our grandchildren.
The writing is in a simple easily accessible style, somewhat reflective of the woman's life, and it pulls the reader along wanting to know more. In the end, it leads the reader to reflect upon the span and arc and meaning of their own life. A good read.

It always makes me feel good when others enjoy my stories and leave a review so many warm thanks to those that have.

What to do when sick

Today I woke up with a cold, coughing, runny nose. Not the way I would prefer to start the new week but nonetheless I'm making the best of it. I finished an awesome story, Wolfman, last night that I finished the review on today and started reading another fabulous story, Tortured Truths.

For tonight I will be working on my own book Baby Girl. I can feel Cleo change with every stroke of the keyboard. She has become much more cynical in her young but weathered years although adventure and longing keep her bright eyed and bushy tailed.
A tidbit from Baby Girl Book 2
My layover turned out not to be so bad and I believe I walked the entire airport simply to stretch my legs which had been cramped into an uncomfortable position for hours. My new identity and age made it possible for me to buy alcoholic beverages which were astronomically overpriced as was everything in the airport. A man sat next to me at the bar and he started up a conversation, “Is this seat taken”.
“No,” was my simple response.
“Really, a beautiful lady like you travelling alone?”
My sixth sense told me the best course of action to take was to lie. “Yes, I’m meeting my fiancé in France.”
“I’m on my way there as well. We have a couple hours, would you like another?” He asked.
“Thank you, so what brings you to France?” I asked. I really didn’t care but was trying to be refined.
“We need to properly introduce ourselves first. I’m Joe and you are?” He said taking my hand and placing a kiss on it.
“Justine, nice to meet you Joe.” I responded regaining control of my hand.
“Well Justine it’s a pleasure to meet you. I have some business in Paris. From the corner of my eye I spotted Mr. shifty dancing eyes from the plane. Is it possible he’s on his way to Paris too? Ignoring his eyes which seemed to glare into my bare broken hearted soul I continued my conversation with Joe, and accepted his drinks. I drank slow and cautious, not wanting to get belligerent before boarding my last flight. It so happened that dancing eyes was on my flight as well.
