My blocks tend to come from the struggle when I do not see where the story is going. Many times, I have not a clue. Yet, if I just keep moving, eventually I have an "Aha! So, that's what that was about!" moment. So, for me, blocks seem to have to do with my desire to control the outcome. I have to get past that, and the best way is just to let the story tell itself.(less)

As with the first book, the project seemed fairly small and straight-forward. However, as the story unfolded, it became clear that it would be another epic tale. It is taking longer than I thought and hoped. Fortunately, I am quite in love with the characters.(less)

“As a Warrior in search of Freedom, you will find and recognize that feeling. Inevitably. At some point in your quest, the feeling that Freedom is will come over you, probably when you least expect it, and you will know it without a doubt. Then you really will be in a pickle. Once the feeling that Freedom is sets its hook into you, you cannot escape. You know that you can no longer settle for that hole in your core to which you had become accustomed. The feeling becomes a longing so deep that it has the power to force you right out of your rut.  You are hooked. You can never be the same; you have to become extraordinary. That is both the gift and the curse of Freedom. The reality is that you cannot choose Freedom. Once you feel it, your only other choice is to die a little more every day.”
Gerry Starnes, Spirit Paths: The Quest for Authenticity

“You do not have to be perfect, yet strive to do your best in whatever circumstance you find yourself.”
Gerry Starnes, Spirit Paths: The Quest for Authenticity

“Notice, too, that you are not to take anything personally. That also means not taking compliments personally just because they feel good to you. Again, people are mostly reflecting themselves and their beliefs. So let their compliments reflect back to them so that they can see their own beauty and strengths.”
Gerry Starnes, Spirit Paths: The Quest for Authenticity

“the art of living is to be found in doing things well: every single action, every single day. In a dualistic world—one of polarities, perceived by our ego as one of separateness, filled with objects and subjects—it means using everything we have, secular and spiritual, to do things well. In this way, we create a life that manifests the divine, creates beauty, and does not seek achievement as its purpose. This requires full attention to everything we do: not making things “right” or perfect, but making them consciously, based in the authentic being we are”
Claude Poncelet, The Shaman Within: A Physicist’s Guide to the Deeper Dimensions of Your Life, the Universe, and Everything

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Frank Herbert, Dune
