Jeffrey A. Ballard writes and lives in the Texas Hill Country just outside of Austin. From a small child he has always been fascinated with the ocean, leading him to earn a B.S. in Ocean Engineering from FAU and a M.S. in Acoustics from Penn State.

His overactive imagination followed him into academia, where he is currently a researcher at the University of Texas. Eventually, he circled back to a boyhood ambition of writing down all his daydreams. He writes daily now and has found a wonderful second life for his college textbooks.

But I'm particularly fond of The Watchers, though it doesn't seem to be my best received. It often seems to go that way for writers.

If you like more classic science fiction with a philosophical thread to it, then I'd recommend The Watchers or The Bear that Painted the Stars.

If you're looking for some fun stories with no other agenda than to just try and entertain, then I'd recommend my Sunken City Capers series. The prelude to the main series, "Underwater Restorations" is free on Amazon.com and is a short read so you can see if you like the feel of the characters and the world.

I currently have no immediate plans to write more in the Watchers universe. I'm writing a Steampunk novel series at the moment, and am consistently writing in the Underwater Restorations universe right now (May 2015 for the first standalone release, but it first appeared in Issues 37 & 38 of Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show).

However, if the Watchers really starts to take off (and I hope it does!) then I would pivot pretty fast to produce more in that universe.(less)
