B. A. McHale writes fantasy romance because creating an entire kingdom seemed easier than convincing the characters in her head to be quiet. Her stories are filled with dangerous magic, found family, sharp banter, complicated relationships and creatures that should probably come with warning labels. The Black Citadel is her debut novel and the beginning of the Aracardis series. When she is not writing, she is usually feeding a serious coffee addiction, surviving on far less sleep than any sensible person would recommend or obsessively adding to her duck collection, despite being genuinely afraid of real ducks.
