I just wanted to thank everyone who entered the contest to win Quantum Spirit ~ Apocalypse, and to let the 10 winners know that I mailed their books today.

Noticeable from the very beginning, the first obvious thing that makes this book different from other young adult paranormal urban fantasy novels is that my heroine isn’t from a dysfunctional family. She has two natural parents who love her and each other, and who are still happily married. She wasn’t adopted, abused, motherless, fatherless, or having to endure a tiresome stepparent. The fact that that alone makes my story different is a little sad. Some may say that it may not be “relatable” to most of the population, yet from my perspective, that’s OK. I really wanted to provide an example of relationships that work. For my younger audience it may provide a framework or concept for their future relationships. My older audience may be inspired, if necessary, to work towards changing their relationship with their significant other or their children. This isn’t a “how to” book on great relationships by any stretch. There are plenty of those out there if somebody is interested in that. It’s just rather wonderful to imagine what our relationships could be like if control and fear were removed and trust, respect and unconditional love were added.
