I love to read, and to have time all day to explore and research topics of interest would be a dream!

My husband would love for me to be his sugar momma and get a movie deal with my writing! I'm a little protective of my work and am not sure I'd like a film writer to re-doing my craft. But hey, its only dreaming, right? When I did playwrighting in college, I had a hard time not adding too much stage direction to my work as I pictured how I wanted things to look and move, and that's really the director's job. As my daughter would sing, "Let it go!"

Thanks for the question! - J. Lynn(less)

For children’s books (which was the genre of my first author pursuits), I write on what I know and have experienced - like working as a day care teacher, growing up as a dancer, etc. And, in fact, my son has given me some fresh children’s fantasy ideas! He also likes to write and illustrate his own stories and has come up with a few good story foundations.

I am currently trying to develop an idea for a murder mystery for geeks like me. The difficult part is creating the motivation for murder that can provide enough depth to write a quality "whodunnit" story around.

While I love sci fi, I think the science fact would be the most difficult for me. I love to read it and watch it, and I understand the basis when I twatch, but coming up with my own solid factual-based scientific stories has proven a little elusive for me. (less)

Top 10 Reads of 2018

Here are my favorite reads of 2018.  That doesn’t mean the books are contained to 2018 release dates but rather book I’ve read in 2018.  Since I am a reviewer for the Historical Novel Society, the majority of my books are historical fiction, some of which I read before the official publication date.

Overall, I hope you’ll take away some new reads. I love to talk books, so let me get my book nerd Read more of this blog post »

“Living in beauty can dull your appreciation for such things.”
J. Lynn Else, The Forgotten: Aten's Last Queen

“All of our lives were a story; their magic came in their retelling. Words could give life everlasting rebirth.

I would accept this challenge. I would use my breath to give life.”
J. Lynn Else, The Forgotten: Aten's Last Queen

“Does the scale of a mistake really matter? Are a rich man’s feelings more important than a poor woman’s? Or are one person’s feelings any less valuable than a group of peoples'?”
J. Lynn Else, Lost Daughters of Avalon

“Ends are for yesterday, not tomorrows.”
Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper

“And I have no control over which yesterdays I keep and which ones get deleted. This disease will not be bargained with. I can't offer it the names of the US presidents in exchange for the names of my children. I can't give it the names of state capitals and keep the memories of my husband.
...My yesterdays are disappearing, and my tomorrows are uncertain, so what do I live for? I live for each day. I live in the moment. Some tomorrow soon, I'll forget that I stood before you and gave this speech. But just because I'll forget it some tomorrow doesn't mean that I didn't live every second of it today. I will forget today, but that doesn't mean that today doesn't matter.”
Lisa Genova, Still Alice

“You're so beautiful," said Alice. "I'm afraid of looking at you and not knowing who you are."
"I think that even if you don't know who I am someday, you'll still know that I love you."
"What if I see you, and I don't know that you're my daughter, and I don't know that you love me?"
"Then, I'll tell you that I do, and you'll believe me.”
Lisa Genova, Still Alice

“Everything we say is a story. But nothing we say is just a story.”
Anne Fortier, Juliet

“All people are made from the wild Red Lands and the quiet Black Lands. It is the embrace of both that sets your heart free." - Nefertiti”
