I'm working on my fourth short story about a blind person getting into some sexy situations. After it's done, I may begin exploring other disabilities in a sexual way. First, I wanted to jot down some quick thoughts on writing blind characters.

The piece of literature that stands out the most for me when it comes to a character with a disability is Raymond Carver's short story Cathedral. I'm sure other examples exist, but Carver's minimalist take was what stuck in my mind.

Now, bear in mind that the erotica I'm writing is different than literature. Having said that, when I write erotica it's a great exercise for character studies and more. For example, I've written some of the blind stories in first person and the others third person.

Most of the stories differ a little stylistically as well, but in each I've had to deal with accurately portraying a person with a disability. I've tried to write them as real people. If I succeeded is another story entirely! But seriously, it's been good to get practice writing complex characters in short form fiction.

I've finished a four-story bundle of wheelchair erotica stories. I've done quite a bit of research on the topic recently. The stories are definitely not vanilla when it comes to hotness and sexuality / kinks.

I've just published Disabled Desires 5: Sandra Smiles (Blind / Disabled Erotica) and am working on completing three more blind erotica stories. I'm finding it's a little easier to write from the perspective of someone that's blind - even though I'm not.

I stumbled across this and the deeper I dig, the more information I find. The idea of having a person with disabilities as the MC in romance novels has been around quite a while, but it never really caught on with a lot of people.

Searching Amazon's shelves, I came across some "disabled erotica" and wasn't too impressed, so I wrote some of my own. The first title in the series is Disabled Desires 1: Making Missy Happy. Please check it out if you get a chance. It's just a buck.

I'm working on the second story in the series focusing on people in wheelchairs. As I said, researching the topic has been eye opening. Apparently, a lot of people with disabilities think about sex as much as able bodied people!

Seriously, though, I wanted to try to explore this topic, and would love for any comments people might have about this type of erotica. Would you read it? Why or why not?

Pronouns are one big thing I've been thinking about in the gender bender genre. Should you just use he for she and vice versa?

I actually did a little research on this, and it seems it's been a problem for a while. Well, at least a few decades.

Some solutions have been offered, but nothing has stuck as of yet. As you might know, English is odd in that we have male and female pronouns.
