A Gypsy's Grave

The eleventh book is out! A Gypsy's Grave finds Madeline back in a place she loves...the great city of New Orleans. But how she gets there and by whose requests begins the mystery for it is not Belle who invited her but a strange and unscrupulous woman.
Still, what she asks will cause Madeline and Hugh to make haste and travel by train to find out for themselves if they can answer the question put to them and find out who the lady in the grave is.
It will be just the beginning of the many mysteries they will need to solve to find out who is causing chaos and harm to many.

Stay well and hopeful

It is a tremendously challenging time to remain hopeful, but perhaps escaping into your favorite pastime of reading might help.
I read all of my reviews and always take everything to heart that the reader says.
I do particularly want to express how reading the words of Joan, Pegge, and Donna has encouraged and helped me at many a trying time. Like sewing additional feathers on a wing, so you can fly again, it lightens my spirit and makes me carry on.
I wish you all my very best and look forward to rainbows again.

Madeline Donovan Series

Something happened that I wanted to share with you.
It seems Madame Clarice has been conjuring up spirits or at least that what I thought for a moment.
Yesterday I received an unusual email that absolutely delighted me as it was from none other than Madeline Donovan.
Yes, Madeline Donovan.
She inadvertently came across the series and has now read all eight of the novels and wrote to tell me that she was now a fan and how she happened one day to find herself the main character in a book.
Have to love the unexpected things like this that are a part of life.

I am hoping to have the eighth in the series completed within the next few weeks and then begin on the ninth.
I am particularly excited about the book because it will be set in the historical and picturesque Ybor City, Florida, an amazing landmark with an unusual past.

A Smidgeon of Ghosts

It's that time of year. The time children and ghost chasers start to tingle all over.
It's nearly Halloween in Lincoln Park also, and the ladies who reside in a supposed haunted house are alarmed.
They have always liked the ghosts who live in the attic, no, that's not what's bothering them. It's the nemesis ghost who's recently come to live in the basement that has them concerned.
Madame Ruby believes the aura in the house is such, that a murder will be committed before midnight in the home on Halloween.
She challenges sleuth Madeline Donovan to prevent it and help eliminate the bothersome ghost.
It will be a night that she and her friends will never forget!

The Harrison

One additional bit of information about Goose Island... if you're a beer drinker and wondering if Goose Island Beer is named after this island, well, YES, it is. Also, Madeline's home on Erie Street still stands and looks much the same on the outside as it did over a hundred years ago.

The Harrison

The Harrison is located on Goose Island in Chicago. You might be thinking how can there be an island in Chicago. It's an interesting tidbit of history as it was a man-made created island in part of the city. This is the area on Erie Street where Madeline Donovan resides. This part of the series is integral to the Donovan series as it is the home base.
The three-flat brick home her family resides in is based on the actual home of my ancestral family who lived in this home. Though they weren't the first family who owned it, it was built in 1878, and many of the buildings on this street were built at the same time. So even though it was a lifetime later, I was able to see the buildings as they existed at that time.
Chicago was rife with crime even in those days and bursting at the seams to grow into a major US city. I enjoy writing about hidden rooms and secret passageways and include them whenever I feel it's plausible and in this story, they are plentiful!
