My name is Barbara Herman, and my book Scent and Subversion: Decoding a Century of Provocative Perfume (Lyons Press, 2013), has been released into the wild!

This labor of love was three years in the making, and if you count how long I blogged about vintage perfume on YesterdaysPerfume.com, six years!

Like so many books on single subjects, this book is about more than perfume — it's also about gender, art, online subcultures, sex, culture, and much much more!

The official release date is November 5th, and its publication date is November 19th, but it's being shipped and seems to be in some bookstores, and reviews are starting to roll in.

More soon! I wanted to introduce myself to my fellow bibliophiles.
