Then I try to write my way towards the beginning by thinking about how the characters got into this situation I find them to be in. Beginnings can be a destination to be arrived at the same as endings. Persistent writer's block might mean I'm trying to write the wrong thing. If I can't write a story I'll try writing a book review. Most of the time I just write things of interest only to myself, like diary entries, my thoughts on current events, my political opinions, stuff like that. What I'd like is for a fictional character to hold me at gunpoint and force me to type his story as he dictates it to me.(less)

Eddie the Weasel has a little problem . . .

He doesn't know he's a fictional character.

To celebrate the publication of my brand new, short one act play, the Kindle edition is free today and tomorrow.

Blurb for "The Contract:" A failed author is held at gunpoint by one of his characters who refuses to accept retirement. There is still one bullet left in the gun, one final shot to revive both of their careers, if the author will simply type w Read more of this blog post »

“All writing, all art, is an act of faith. If one tries to contribute to human understanding, how can that be called decadent? It’s like saying a declaration of love is an act of decadence. Any work of art, provide it springs from a sincere motivation to further understanding between people, is an act of faith and therefore is an act of love.”
Truman Capote, Conversations With Capote

“Speaking does harm, sows confusion and weakens things that are obvious. Speaking makes me tremble inside. I don't think I have ever said anything really important in my entire life -- there's a lack of words for the most important things anyway. (I must make a list of missing words -- top of it I'll put a verb that means something in between "I sense" and "I see.")”
