When William Tea was a boy, he thought monsters lived in the dark. So when the lights were out, he snarled and spat and twisted his hands into claws, trying to blend in with the things that went bump in the night.

He’s been friends with the monsters ever since.

William Tea lives in the Northeastern Pennsylvania Coal Region. His work has been featured in anthologies published by Muzzleland Press, Wildside Press, Silent Motorist Media, Planet X Publications, StrangeHouse Books, and CLASH Books.

Stephen King
“At thirteen I wanted monsters that ate whole cities, radioactive corpses that came out of the ocean and ate surfers, and girls in black bras who looked like trailer trash.”
Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

David Lynch
“I hate slick and pretty things. I prefer mistakes and accidents. Which is why I like things like cuts and bruises - they're like little flowers. I've always said that if you have a name for something, like 'cut' or 'bruise,' people will automatically be disturbed by it. But when you see the same thing in nature, and you don't know what it is, it can be very beautiful.”
David Lynch

“And crawling on the planet's face,
some insects called the human race.
Lost in time, and lost in space.
And meaning.”
Richard O'Brien, The Rocky Horror Show

“Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone.”
Chan-wook Park

Edgar Allan Poe
“The Conqueror Worm Lo! 'tis a gala night Within the lonesome latter years! An angel throng, bewinged, bedight In veils, and drowned in tears, Sit in a theatre, to see A play of hopes and fears, While the orchestra breathes fitfully The music of the spheres. Mimes, in the form of God on high, Mutter and mumble low, And hither and thither fly— Mere puppets they, who come and go At bidding of vast formless things That shift the scenery to and fro, Flapping from out their Condor wings Invisible Wo! That motley drama—oh, be sure It shall not be forgot! With its Phantom chased for evermore, By a crowd that seize it not, Through a circle that ever returneth in To the self-same spot, And much of Madness, and more of Sin, And Horror the soul of the plot. But see, amid the mimic rout A crawling shape intrude! A blood-red thing that writhes from out The scenic solitude! It writhes!—it writhes!—with mortal pangs The mimes become its food, And the angels sob at vermin fangs In human gore imbued. Out—out are the lights—out all! And, over each quivering form, The curtain, a funeral pall, Comes down with the rush of a storm, And the angels, all pallid and wan, Uprising, unveiling, affirm That the play is the tragedy, "Man," And its hero the Conqueror Worm.”
Edgar Allan Poe, The Conqueror Worm

Yes, I did. Sorry I didn't reply to this message earlier. I haven't been using Goodreads much lately.

Yes, I saw. Loved your review, and your blog! Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm happy you enjoyed my story (and the anthology in general). As someone just getting back into the swing of writing again after far too long a hiatus, and for someone who only recently gained the gall to actually let other people read his writing, it's uplifting to know something I've done has hit a chord with someone in some way. :)
