David Sobral (1986-) was born in Barreiro, Portugal. He lived and studied in Portugal (doing a Physics and Astronomy degree) for 21 years, after which he moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, to do a PhD in Astrophysics. Whilst in Portugal he won several national awards, both for his short-stories, but also for novels. He published his first poems in 2003, and his first novel in 2005 (as part of Jovens Escritores 2005). After finishing his PhD in 2011 and publishing over 10 refereed papers, he was a awarded a NOVA Fellowship at Leiden University, where he currently works and lives. He has published "Guinsberg" (a science fiction novel), "Whispers of a Lost Dream" (a fiction novel), a short novel which was awarded 3 different prizes in 2004 and 2005 ...more
