Love to Read
I remember the first time I heard someone say they didn’t like to read.
I was floored.
There wasn’t anything about reading that I didn’t love. The smell of paper as I turned the page. The feel of the ink–smooth on the rough page. The way I could curl around the book and have it all to myself. The fun of exploring different places, meeting new characters and having things go wrong but work out all right.
One of my favorite readers in third grade had a story about the Loch Ness Monster.
WHAT?!
A sea monster in a lake? How cool was that? My mind was blown.
And the kicker was, this story was at the end of the book–and the rest of the class didn’t get to it that year. My heart still weeps over the tragedy.
As a writer, I want to create books that bring happiness into the world. I feel like it’s only fair, considering the vast joy I’ve gotten from reading other authors’ works.
What have you read that made an impact on you as a child?
I’d love to hear about it! Drop me a comment below.
Happy reading,
Lucy
Back to School Reading Time

I'm so excited that school is back in session because that means more time to read.
I love my kiddos. They're the best thing in my life.
But, to recharge my batteries, I need to read!
I'll read just about every genre and they all feed my soul. But, since I write in contemporary romance I do most of my reading there.
I've been super amazed at the books I get through my book group. We have a wide variety of readers and they chose their favorites. Are you in a book club? Do you have a theme you stick to or is it a free for all?
I hope you get some time to read today.
Happy reading,
Lucy
