“Muchos maestros que hoy enseñan a leer lo hacen sin un conocimiento fundamentado de la teoría o incluso de la técnica. Adquieren libros de ejercicios publicados por diferentes editoriales basándose en lo atractivo de sus ilustraciones y la simplificación del trabajo que puedan ofrecer para el docente. “Que sea bonito, que aligere el trabajo y que no cueste mucho”, parecen ser los parámetros bajo los cuales se basan las decisiones sobre con qué y cómo enseñar a leer (y a escribir). Más aún, cuando se pregunta a las maestras qué método utilizan para la enseñanza, muchas responden con el nombre del libro que usan para la instrucción, más que aludir a la fundamentación teórica de su trabajo.”
