Born and raised in Dublin Ireland by two wonderful parents Ian has always written. The first thing he wrote that gathered attention was a Role Play Game scenario called 'Dungeons Dimensions & Dragons'. This scenario, written for the 2009 Gaelcon convention, won the award for best game. So began years of writing sell out scenarios at Irish Cons.

He always knew wanted to write novels, and while considering an entry into the Terry Pratchett unpublished author competition, the idea for The Other Whisper came along.

It was his friend and fellow author Lora O Brien who's advice, encouragement and friendly competition pushed him to make his deadline.

Killing your darlings

So George RR Martin has made a meme for himself by killing his characters, like, a lot. And it is a commonly held belief amongst writers that you can’t get too attached to your characters, that you have to be willing to let them go if it’s what the story needs.

I just don’t know if I have that in me.
