I'm by no means green fingered but I like to give it a shot, so there I was digging over the ground to lay a new lawn and I found myself thinking about my Grandfather who was a green fingered gardener. It occurred to me that one of the reasons he used to spend so much time in his garden was that it acted as a form of therapy for him.

He had been a tail-gunner on Lancaster bombers during World War 2 (he was only 18 years old when he signed up). During one of his missions he was shot down and taken prisoner of war.

He was never one to discuss his experiences and only ever disclosed what I would call a PG version of events. He had focused on his life, his family and his work which had provided the distraction and gave him to focus to cope with his experiences which I now know where extremely brutal. Once he retired his garden became his focus - his place to go to when he needed serenity, distraction or space in order to process and deal with the things he had been through. It made him a very strong, very caring, very centred man.

I have for a number of years wanted to write a story based on a reflection of his experiences however I could never find the right way to do it because there is a lot of information I am unable to find. Finally I decided his experiences are somewhat compatible to those of soldiers today, so i decided to try and write a contemporary story using his life as an inspiration.

Hopefully, I am able to do both him and serving soldiers justice in the story I am currently weaving. (less)

It's Okay Not to be Okay - Wardrobe Envy

Anyone watching "It's Okay not to be Okay" cannot help but be moved by the emotive storyline, entranced by the beautiful animations of the fairytales and totally in love with Ko Moon-young's wardrobe.

The costumes have been well planned to convey the character and her personality, eccentric and strong with a confident attitude and a sophisticated manner.   I'm in love with her outfits as much as I Read more of this blog post »

“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.”
Richard Curtis
