Don't be afraid of critique.
I find It is easy to fear even the slightest criticism because there is such a deep connection between me and my stories. I want to believe they are perfect, for the simple reason that I wrote them. Anything bad about my stories can feel like a direct reflection on myself, and let's be honest, who wants to see the bad in themselves? Criticism can feel like a knife cutting something precious deep inside of me. I often feel the urge to run from criticism, to defend myself, or even throw a bit of a tantrum, depending on my mood and the level of criticism.
In case you could not tell, I am not the best at receiving criticism, but I do it as best I know how, and I promise you I would be a lot worse writer today if I had not stood still, listened to what others had to say, considered it reasonably and acted accordingly.
When we are willing to be wrong, to be less than perfect at something, we can learn a lot. Without learning how will we ever become better writers?(less)

Other people's stories really make me want to get to work and create. Another great source of inspiration is talking to people about my stories. People who enjoy my work really make it worth while.
If you are talking about where my ideas come from, I don't think there is one source. One thing that drives a lot of what I write is value. I want my writing to show what is valuable and what is important. I let my characters do the talking, or rather the living, and their lives reveal true value in a beautiful way. (less)

A few weeks ago I went camping. I hadn’t been camping in years, and it was good to have the opportunity to do it with people who were experienced with the wilderness.

During the day we hiked up to the top of a waterfall and looked out from the side of a cliff across a deep hollow at the tree-covered hills around us. It was beautiful and a little terrifying. One of the most memorabl

“It makes it easier to wait for the man God has for me," Said Elly, "Because I already have the most important relationship. I can spend my life loving and being loved by the perfect Bridegroom. I don't have to wait for a man to fall in love with me to make me happy.”

“First you invite your brother's kids here. Now you want to do a play. What's next? A cruise?"
"What's with your family and suggesting cruises?" she laughed.
"That was in no way supposed to be taken as a suggestion!”

“Yeah, but...Come on!" Edward sputtered. Rick glared at him. "Fine! You kids have fun. I'm going to stay here and be a boring adult.”
