I live in Reading and studied at The Open University for a degree which incorporated Creative Writing and Literature. Once I gained the degree (in my fifties) I wondered what I could do with it as it was rather late for a career change, hence the late start into writing.

This first novel was inspired by being stuck in a lift in Paris for hours with seven friends. We had limited space and had just eaten and drunk a large quantity of French food and drink. We all needed the toilet and one young man said, "I have one empty coke bottle between us," as he pulled it like a magician would from his rucksack. In that moment I decided to write, in the voice of a young male, a comedy.
