Jodi began her career as a corporate trainer, writing manuals and training programs for computer companies. After starting a family, she earned her MA from Cornerstone University and followed with teaching High School English and Composition. While reading countless novels during course development, she decided to write one of her own.

Dead Land is a YA post-apocalyptic novel that combines Jodi’s love of fiction, appreciation for young adults and the many challenges they face, and a passion for the spiritual components in life.

Dead Land follows the life of eighteen year-old Sarah Cain as she struggles to survive the pressures and temptations of high school, relationships, self-discovery…and the end of the world.

It’s rather humorous; I talk out loud the whole time, working through the dialogue between the characters, and figuring out the logistics of the plot. After forty-five minutes or so, I have the scene worked out, and then run home as fast as I can, sit down at the laptop and crank out the resolution. When I hit an especially tough writing block, I take a walk with my cell phone. I talk out the scene and record it on my phone, coming home to type the dictation. Sounds strange, but it works. My neighbors tell me that they find it quite entertaining.(less)
