1. Writing is HARD. If it were easy everyone would be an author.
2. Get in the habit of writing SOMETHING every day.
3. Carry a notebook or pad with you at ALL times. You never know when someone will say something that will trigger an idea or illustration for an idea.
4. The mind is like a Crock Pot...an "raw" idea needs simmer a long time before it's ready to be put on paper.
5. When an idea wakes you in the middle of the night GET UP AND WRITE IT DOWN. Don't tell yourself you'll remember it in the morning. You may remember the idea but not the clarity of expression you had while asleep.

The motivation for writing was to give encouragement to guys out in the weeds with their warriors and to give them ideas for "sermon starters." I've begun compiling these devotionals to put in a book. Since they're 1 page the tentative title is A Pause to Refresh.(less)
