Book Promos

I am willing to try something new to help my author friends with promotions.  Each week I will share (a few) ads on my site to help you out.  I may set aside one particular day to do this, so keep a watch for your advertisement.  If you are interested, respond to this post and we’ll make it happen.   Finish reading the post and I’ll explain why I want to do this for us.

Do you get tired of seeing book ads?  I’m an author and I certainly do, but in this day and age of indie authors, who must promote themselves, there isn’t an easy way to get the word out about books; drop and go advertisings are about all we have unless you can pay for promotions.  When we look at Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc,  you’d think the book trade is flooded with indie authors, but it really isn’t.  There is only a small percentage of people who write books compared to the world’s reading population and readers want new material.

What should we do?  Let me ask this… do you enjoy seeing (A LOT of the same commercials) on television taking up space in your programs?  I don’t.  I feel the same way about seeing the same book ads in every other post throughout the groups I follow.    This is my opinion only… space your adds.  Join many book groups, clubs, and discussion groups and share ads occasionally on each site.  Divide up the groups and place your ads on certain days. This will keep daily ads moving and not jam up the group sites with daily begs for attention.  Let’s be honest, we’re begging for purchases or we wouldn’t be promoting so hard.

When we work together it shows interest.  Word of mouth is a lot better than drop and go advertising.   Join me and let’s start a new trend.  Brag about a friend and point out their work.  Let’s get er done!

When Authors come together we get books moving!

I’ve been an author since 2012, and I’ve never had the support that I’ve acquired recently.  I started off as a published author with a publisher who claimed to be ‘Christian Based’, only to be bamboozled, stolen from and lied too.  It left me feeling depressed and in the dark.  I had 3 books published by this company, had purchased many, many paperbacks to sell and was promised a book touring gig.  Well, that didn’t happen.  I wound up in coffee shops, flea markets, and sideshows mostly, with only one or two very small bookstores agreeing to host me at a book signing, and I had to beg for those.  I’ll stop the rant.  All that is in the past.  I broke my contract and started over on my own as an indie author.

Marketing is hard.  Indie authors struggle with this part of our work daily.  It can also be expensive with most firms wanting a large fee up front for various awards, and promotions, and if you are like me, you don’t have money to throw around.  I’d much rather receive notoriety from readers who liked my work, it’s because I feel better about my projects knowing I didn’t have to pay for approval.

I am a happy camper!  Recently, I stumbled across two or three groups online and began to actively participate instead of just doing the typical drop and go adds.  Creating relationships with these people was fun and very helpful.  Not only did it give my work a boost, I felt like part of a team who were working as one unit promoting and encouraging each other.

I encourage any new author to join groups, especially discussion groups and get to know your fellow authors.  We are not competing with each other.  This world has millions of readers, who are looking for new authors.  Join the team and work to help one another so we can feed these readers who are craving new material.   Going alone in this marketing world, is frustrating and depressing why not have fun and enjoy some company, even if it is online.

You can follow me and find out what groups I collaborate with.   Look at my ‘group feature’ on Facebook, some groups I only do the drop and go promo add, but I really enjoy discussion groups best.

We may come from dust, but we can accomplish great things with the right attitude.

It has taken me six decades to finally understand that everything on this planet, inside the planet, or outside of the planet is connected one way or another. The human race is just one part of a bigger picture.

When we decide to be kind, compassionate, and sympathetic people life will be better for all because these virtues take care of each other an life around them. Attitudes and emotions are like ripples on water when something is thrown into it, they grow bigger over time and it affects everything.

Do you want happy or angry people around you? Ask yourself today, what are your emotions emitting. What do you want rippling off of you throughout the universe? Think about this, because whatever you send out will eventually return to you.

Every day is a new day. Make them great.

WE CAN TRAIN OURSELVES TO BE THANKFUL

Like most people these days, I follow various sites on social media.  Some are to entertain me and others I use to develop my mind.   I found a video today that spoke volumes to me and agreed with my thoughts about being content or complaining.   There is a flow we can ride within the rhythm of this universe we live in, and if we are sensitive to this flow we will feel more connected. The clue is thankfulness.

People are craving happiness and it is a common denominator everywhere you turn.  Studies are proving that happiness is not found but created.  Complaining stops the creative process and attracts problems just like a magnet attracts.  Our emotions are powerful.  The link I’ve posted gives a helpful interpretation as to why we must take control of ourselves if we are to be content and attract positive outcomes.

Enjoy the video at the link below.

WE NEED EACH OTHER

When my publisher went out of business, I had to start completely over.  This meant taking control of my work, breaking contracts, creating new covers, titles and then publishing everything as an Indie author.  Many times I had to rely on the help of other authors who could guide me through the whole process.  Then I had to learn how to market what was published.  Without their help, I would have been a complete failure.  I thank God people were willing to take me under their wings and assist me.

Simply by wanting to know other authors, and reading different blogs, I learned what they went through.  Come 2018, I’m starting my own blog, A TIGER ROARS to interview and promote authors willing to share their journeys This way we can grow together, enjoy each other’s work and be the better for our efforts.

A TIGER ROARS!

ROARING!

It was February 2014 when my kids and I went to Atlanta, Georgia for a book signing event that I first heard Katy Perry’s song, ‘Roar’.   At the time, I didn’t think anything about the song other than I liked it very much.   Little did I know at the time, but this would become my theme song very soon.

Through the next few years, I had to develop a very tough skin and learn to speak/roar.  Business is a beast so I needed to become a beast in return!  Being a new author in an ocean full of other writers overwhelmed me, and being a trusting person, I was taken advantage of many times before I learned the hard lessons.

Back to Katy Perry’s song.   When I heard the song again a few years later, I decided to view it on YouTube.  What I saw was a short film attached to the song.  It was like viewing myself as I was exploited by a publisher, then abandoned in a jungle of wild animals who wanted the same piece of meat.  The same miracle in the film happened to me.  I began to make friends with my rivals and we learned to help each other.

Today I roar for others as well as myself.   Creative minds must stick together to survive this dog-eat-dog business life.

Fight for happiness

I recently watched the movie Doctor Strange, and I can honestly say it depicted my view on a spiritual existence thriving alongside a flesh/worldly one.   In this day and age, we tend to focus more on what we can see and touch rather than on what we can sense.  We are ruled by other’s actions.

As a writer, who wants to inspire and encourage others I feel it is important that all of us learn more about the other side of ourselves.  Being in touch with our emotional self will help direct our view and attract what we want as well as need.  Life is about energy and its force on us.  Are we projecting a positive vibe or are we living in a depressive negative downturn?  I’m not talking about mental illnesses.  I respect and have deep compassion for those who suffer from various forms.  I’m talking about your joy, kindness, compassion, generosity, love, etc.

Join me and let’s learn together.  If I find something interesting I will expound on it.  If I see where negative forces may be destroying us I will roar loudly so we can regain a happy note.  Just like music, we must blend, harmonize and compliment each other.  Compassion, love, respect and acceptance are my keys for a happier me because when I treat others the way I want to be treated the force returns several times greater.

Until next time, I’m happily purring,

Raven a/k/a Roaringpurr

S. Jackson and A. Raymond

5 STAR children’s books that educate while entertaining.

By Raven H. Price on September 9, 2016
Suzy Has A Secret definitely receives a 5 Star review from me. I truly believe this book should be read to children at home, at school, and church. Kids need to believe their bodies are precious and if ever abused they have a right to tell someone. My own child lived with an abusive secret until one day a panic attack forced her to tell all. If only I’d known sooner, she wouldn’t have lived in fear and self loathing as long as she did.

This is a wonderful book to entertain and teach children about safety. Using a dog and squirrels that traveled was very creative and it showed the importance of being careful while having fun. I rated this book a 5 Star for kids 4 to 10.

Another 5 Star for S. Jackson. I absolutely loved this sweet book! Teaching children that bullying is not acceptable is very important and by using cute little mice was very effective. I highly recommend this book for children of all ages.
