I write my blog because I would very much like to share my journey through life with you from being a completely unknown writer to one who is a slightly less unknown writer.

You will discover what makes me tick, and ticks-me-off and how apparently insignificant events can inspire me to write my stories (here’s one post about it). There is a world of inspiration out there and I’ll show you where mine comes from. A lot of it comes from every day situations and people. Things that other people may overlook, I often find inspirational to my story writing.

I’ve been in creative industries since 2001 when I became a photographer and have since developed that into web and graphic design also. I’ve also written for newspapers and have run my own news websites for a while, so taking up writing again seems to me to be a natural and fulfilling step.

I live in the Hampshire countryside and have two wonderful kids whom I adore very much. Time spent with them is worth a thousand of the happiest books when they come and stay with me. I climb a lot at my local indoor climbing wall and enjoy getting outside onto real rocks whenever I can.

My first forays into the world of literature were poems based around the trials and tribulations of growing up. Love mainly. All sickeningly sweet now I look back at them. Since then though, I would like to think I have matured a little (although recently, I have discovered the romantic side of me did not disappear from my teenage years and that I am still a bit of a romantic!) and that my writing has grown with me.

In December 2013, I independently published my début novel, ‘The Veil’, which is available on Kindle and in paperback also, from Amazon. There may be a sequel to follow, although I am not sure yet. If there is, it may not be for a few years yet. The next planned novel is called ‘The Punch and Judy Man’ and will be a dark foray into the weird world of puppeteering.

There always has been a dark side to my writing and I love writing about that side of life. It excites me. The possibilities of urban fantasy and good old fashioned ghost stories. They’re so much fun! The Veil is my third attempt at writing a novel, the other two being when I was in my teenage years. They failed of course because I didn’t have the motivation to finish them. Plus I didn’t have the life experience or patience!

Hopefully, readers that pick up a copy of my books on their Kindle or in paperback or read this blog will discover something of the otherworldly nature in which part of my mind resides, the people in it and what they are capable of. ...more
