Celebrating India's 75th Independence Day

Read this post in Hindi - ७५वें भारतीय स्वतंत्रता दिवस का जश्न
We celebrated our country's 75th Independence Day, this Sunday on August 15th 2021. On this occasion, i sang a song dedicating it to the ever-alive spirit of our Indian soldiers:
Home is one front we all wish to be at but our soldiers cannot come home because they are protecting India and its citizens on borders. One day at a time, they are putting their lives on the line.
This song is from the movie Border. A 1997 movie, directed, produced and written by J. P. Dutta, it brings forward the true sentiments of soldiers. i remember watching it at the time of release and i can still feel the cringe and pain i went through that day.
Hope you enjoy my singing. If you like, do subscribe to my channel (also, like, share and comment). i am doing a Song Covers series where i am posting one video every Sunday.

30 minutes. Every morning. Change your life.
Hi 🙋 i am Priyanka Baranwal. Welcome to my blog! By the way, i am an author, blogger, poet, guitarist and podcaster. Read my latest book - COFFEE TABLE. Know more About Me. Let's talk about the post idea now, shall we? 😊
---------------------------------------
Read this post in Hindi - तीस मिनट। हर सुबह। बदलें अपनी ज़िन्दगी।
Do you wish to bring positive changes in your life? Do you aspire to break free of fears, anxiety and stress? If the answer is yes then you are at the right place.
A kind disclaimer though. Expect this exercise to work in its own time and pace. Do not rush the process or give up on it in the first few days. In other words, give this exercise sometime to work it through.
A Tryst With Yourself
Every morning, learn to gift yourself 30 minutes of free time.
Get up. Freshen up. Take your tea/coffee to a quiet corner and sit with yourself. Let your mind find focus on its own.
A soothing beverage is for giving the body a right start for the day. As for the quiet corner, it can be anything that offers tranquillity such as balcony, terrace, swing, sofa, bed etc. Below is a simple distinction of Dos and Don'ts of this process.
30 minutes. Every morning. Change your life.
What to do?
What NOT to do?
Sit with thoughts and a cup of hot tea/coffee
Work out/exercise
Breathe deeply and slowly
Meditation (keep a separate time for meditation)
Stay awake and conscious
Attend phone calls, messages or emails
Listen to the music of your choice or sit in silence
Consume anything sugary
Journal
Think negative or stressed out
Observe the surroundings (nature)
Talking to someone (avoid conversations of any form)
Write Affirmations and Gratitude
Noise or chaos
Smile
Sleep
Do it 30 minutes at least for a week
How do i do it
i like to stay awake late at night but wisdom is to sleep on time and wake up early in the morning (it is okay if we think different here). Morning time is blessed only if you take advantage of it!
i get up and freshen up. Then i take my black coffee, along with some nuts (walnut and almond preferably), either to the balcony or the swing and sit quietly there. Sometimes, it is the dining chair i am sitting on with my legs folded in a comfy position. With each sip, i slowly inhale the peace every morning has to offer. i allow my mind to breathe and settle. i also do a list of Affirmations and Gratitude.
Bottom line: Dedicate yourself to these few minutes so that the rest of the day can work for you.
How do you like to start your mornings ? Also, does this 30-minutes A Tryst With Yourself tactic sounds workable? Let me know.

On The Purpose of Life.

Read my Hindi blog - जीवन के उद्देश्य पर
Dictated by Dalai Lama, the purpose of our lives is to be happy.
A few minutes ago i remembered that today is Tuesday, the formal day to write a blog post. But what to write on? i thought of a few topics but nothing allured my attention enough to start working on.
Then i typed - Life Quotes - went to the Images and there! i found the perfect quote to which i can not only relate but can also recall a strong learning of during COVID19 pandemic (thank you but no thank you, Mr. Virus!).
COVID19 taught me - Be Happy. No. Matter. What. It is in this pandemic that i deeply realized that how magnificently we are dependent on people and things to feel good about ourselves.
For example, travelling is one thing that makes many happy. Pandemic barred us from moving places to places. Trapped in my house, i learned to stay at one place and still be calm and happy.
Another example would be Conversations. Talking to people make us feel connected. Pandemic taught me to connect with myself. i began meditating and in no words, absolutely no words, i can explain how meditation and the whole process helped me in emerging out as a winner during COVID19. Meditation helped me find ways to connect with myslf and when you are connected with yourself, you find it easier to connect with others too.
A perfect quote to remind myself the purpose of life. What is your purpose of this life? Do melt them into words in the comment box below.

5 Tips to Deal with Stress and Anxiety!
Hi 🙋 i am Priyanka Baranwal. Welcome to my blog! By the way, i am an author, and a blogger, poet, guitarist and podcaster. Read my latest book - COFFEE TABLE. Know more About Me. Let's talk about the post idea now, shall we? 😊
---------------------------------------
Read my Hindi blog - तनाव और उत्कंठा से बचने के ५ बेहतरीन उपाय
What's your favourite way to deal with stress and anxiety? Mine is to pace the space. i also like deep breathing.
The way COVID19 has induced stress and anxiety microscopicly into our daily lives, life is hardly a cake walk now. Coming from my experience and of course, some research, here are a few tips to deal with stress and anxiety -
a. Deep breathingTrain your mind to breathe deep every now and then. Deep breathing, as the common knowledge goes, ups the oxygen level in the mind and body and hence, does the fail-proof trick of relaxing. It also clarifies your vision on the situation.
How to Deep Breathe? Inhale slowly through nose while counting till 5. Hold for a couple of seconds and then exhale but slowly and counting again till 5 through mouth. In addition to make this easiest stress-busting exercise more powerful, imagine taking positivity and strength in when inhaling and when exhaling, imagine your body releasing stress and anxiety.
b. Pace the spaceWalking is an age-old trick to stay healthy, not only physically but mentally as well. Benefits of walking have been proven. When i am too stressed, i naturally break into a pace. i walk comfortably in the living room or even in my bedroom! If possible and COVID19 guidelines allow, walk in the society premises or a park.
Pacing/walking keeps the mind engaged in an acitivity which serves as an excellent distraction to cope with unwanted stress which brings me to the next point.
c. Change activity every 2 hoursDo you know our mind hates monotony? Yes. The mind is designed to prevent you from sticking to one activity for a long time. i make a point of leaving my laptop or whatever activity i am engaged in every 2 hours. In other words, it means i take a mindful break every 2 hours of my work.
Doing it consciously helps the mind combat boredom, the ultimate enemy of growth and productivity.
d. Keep eyes on the prizeUsually in races, horses are usually tied in with blinkers on the outer side of their eyes which prevents them from looking around. The blinkers keep the horses ultra-focused which further means their eyes stay on the prize through the course.
Stress and anxeity can take your eyes off the goals and dreams. If this is the case, this is HOW you can smash them! Every time these two bugs make a comeback (they never really go away, do they?), remind yourself of something fruitful such as:
What are my this month's/week's goals? What have i planned to get done by tonight? What have i finished already? When is the next class/project/assignment?How can i up my productivity?Which friend/family member i need to catch up with?Or better, make your own checklist.
e. Take help, if needed. Some times, and it is not uncommon, we need help. Go to a doctor. Seek medical help, like conselling, for increasing stress and anxiety. Talk to a friend or someone who is willing to understand and does not judge.
In one sentence, find another human with whom you can make a heart-to-heart connection.
That's it for today. Now again, what's your favourite way to de-stress?

Accept Your Uniqueness. 3 Key steps to accepting yourself.
Hi 🙋 i am Priyanka Baranwal. Welcome to my blog! By the way, i am an author, and a blogger, poet, guitarist and podcaster. Read my latest book - COFFEE TABLE. Know more About Me. Let's talk about the post idea now, shall we? 😊
---------------------------------------
Read this post in Hindi - कैसे अपनाएं खुद को? ३ उपाय अपने अनोखेपन को स्वीकार करने के।When people say 'You are different.' or 'You are strange.', do you, by any chance, feel different or strange? Do you begin to question yourself?
Look around. You will notice that not only you but everyone is different too. Some has a knack for writing then some has a flair for singing. Some sleep a lot and some sing pretty well. Some are into general knowledge then some are an expert in relationships.
Every one of us is unique in one or the other way. So, the bigger question arises here is - how do you accept your uniqueness?
In other words, how to accept yourself? Here are a few key steps to to just that - 1. KNOW YOURSELF!Sounds funny and maybe a bit ironical, right? After all, you live with yourself 24 hours a day through the 365 1/4 days of the year. How would you not know yourself?
That is the trick here : You may NOT! You can be aware of your hobbies but do you know what kind of a person you are? What sort of people you want to connect with? Whether you are a social person. If you are
an introvert
then what subjects you like to concern yourself with? If extrovert, which subject pisses you off? Believe it or not, there are myriad of aspects of your personality that you may not be aware of. That is why knowing yourself is the first and vital key step to accept your true self.2. BE FEARLESS!Fear is an equalizer. Be it a job or communication, we are always afraid of one or the other thing.
But do you know that you do not need to be afraid!
In order to embrace the true self, letting go of fear/s is another key step. For example, you might be afraid of letting your mother know that you don't like to be treated in a certain way or in telling your friend that you'd like to opt out of the group study idea. You are afraid that they will get angry which may cost the relationship.
Know that not putting your concerns/thoughts out there is equally damamging. More you burden yourself with unnecessary fears, more you are layering your unique identity with unwanted emotions.
Be fearless! It's as important as wanting to be treaded fair.3. BE RATIONAL!
Being rational helps you realize your hidden potential. When you are able to tackle people, situations or relationships in a tactical way, you project yourself as a confident person, someone who knows how to be in the space provided. Many people, believe it or not, do not even know how to just be! They feel as they will crawl out of their skin if someone blames them for something, anything. Staying calm and focused are the two very effective ways to deal with the challenges.
A secret? i too was afraid to accept my uniqueness but now i am learning a great deal about it.
Accepting your uniqueness has endless benefits such as:It makes you confident. You realize your true potential. You can design your life according to you (and not others). You discover a rare freedom within yourself.People get to see you true self and find easy to connect with. You become OKAY with imperfect things of life.Being fearless helps you communicate better.Less of - stress, anxiety, sleepless nights, sadness, loneliness etc.You are fine being on your own. What's your story? How do you accept your unique self? Do drop your views so that we can connect easily.

..............
Oh, sorry! i was being lazy. Let's talk.
COVID19 or not, laziness has always been a daily pandemic. Be it waking up early or finishing a deadline or even making dinner, laziness is like a carpet stretched across our daily routine. For writers, it is known as Procrastination. Here are a few quick ways to avoid being lazy -
1. Get up early in the morning - Getting up early equals getting more hours in a day which further unfolds into getting more time to do task/s. For example, if you have a deadline to finish say by the afternoon, getting up early will give you an extra hour to double-check it before the submission or may be, go an extra-mile at delivering more. That adds up to a bonus. HERE are a few more benefits for being an early-riser.
2. Take breaks. - i am a huge fan of writing and learning (since i am both) and i prefer to work for two hours in one go before i decide on a break. Catching a break in regular intervals helps you process the energy you have just invested. It also relaxes the brain and body to accumulate for What's Next.
3. Take care of the breaks. - Breaks are super-important if i wasn't clear in the previous point. But how to make them super-efficient to serve optimal? Simple. Do something positive like:Listening to music or dancingRelaxing Yoga posesBreathing (inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth. Slowly. Deliberately. For 6-10 times)Walking the space (balcony, office corridor, living hall)MeditationLooking out at the world also known as observing natureListening to a podcast or an audio book or watching motivational videosCatching up with a friendReading a couple of pages/an article HERE are more ideas.
4. Attract energy. - In order to have energy, you have to attract energy . Consciously. For example, every time i am off my work, the first thing that enters my mind is a set of negative thoughts. It's okay! Our mind is designed to think what's unpleasant and challenging so that it gets more excuses to not to push itself further via work. i have to make conscious efforts in thinking positive. In other words, i attract thoughts that fill me up with motivation and energy. Think positive to get positive (not COVID positive 😉)
5. FINISH that damn goal! - Goal setting is an amazing trick to realize your full potential! In fact, an unmissable trait of a leader. But listing goals is simply half work. The other half is FINISHING them . As the saying goes - Money begets money - same way it goes for the success too - Success begets success. More goals done means room for more goals and opportunities.Read THIS article to understand the SMARTER Goal Setting System. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-sensitive, Evaluated and Re-adjusted)
What's your drop-dead gorgeous tip for staying active? i'd love to listen to that.

3 Tips To Make a COMEBACK!
Hi 🙋 i am Priyanka Baranwal. Welcome to my blog! By the way, i am an author, and a blogger, poet, guitarist and podcaster. Know more About Me. Let's talk about the post idea now, shall we? 😊
---------------------------------------
Read this post in Hindi - कैसे लौटें अपनी मनपसंद आदतों पर? ३ कारगर सुझावIn this COVID19 pandemic, we all have been struggling, with some more than others. Where many have lost jobs, many have begun trying out new things.
Somewhere in between these two realms lies a hard-hitting reality - Leaving behind something you truly cherish and admire.
i could understand this feeling only recently, when i had to say goodbye to podcasting. It's heart-wrenching also because it was the 25th episode (content wise) of my podcast! The Silver Jubilee Episode. Never had i ever imagined that i'd be celebrating the occasion with a farewell, and not the fireworks of words.
i'll never forget the day i launched my podcast (November 24 2020) just as i'll never forget the day of publishing the 25th episode (June 13 2021)
Memories left behind are the crumbs we eat to survive further on and while we are at it, why not try 3 tips to do it better? Sounds cool? Here are my 3 line of crumbs to chew on and feel better -
1. Promise yourself a comeback
2. Remember the GOOD feelings you had while doing the craft
3. Keep the promise in your mind
As the above extra-large slice of wisdom says, every ending has a new beginning. Besides, what's The End anyway? An appropriate pause in a movie or a book, right? Stories and lives never really end. They sustain for lifetimes.
Stay cool with memories. Use them as fuel to recharge your vision.
The 25th episode of my podcast sure feels like The End at this moment but i know that one day i will be back. i just need to wait it out.
Never really say Goodbye to the things/people you truly love and cherish. Take a break. A pause. A sabbatical, if you must but always and always find a way to crawl back.
In the meanwhile, give your best to the journey. Grow. Learn. Lead. Embrace. Let go. Live. Share. Laugh. Love. Enjoy.
You are on to an extra-ordinary journey called life. Cherish every single moment, my friend. You will thank yourself when it's time to say the final goodbye.
Until then, find a new beginning in every ending.
Before you say goodbye here, allow me to present a few chapters/segments from 25th episode. Hope you enjoy listening to it:
