Cover Reveal: Magical Beginnings in Little Beaubrook
Hello! The day is finally here! I’m SO excited to share the beautiful cover for Magical Beginnings in Little Beaubrook, publishing under my Bella Brightside pen name. This was designed by the super talented Diane Meacham, who’s done a fantastic job capturing the magic and sparkle of a place that’s lived only in my head for the past few years. I can’t stop looking at it…
What do you think? Does this make you want to visit Little Beaubrook?
The blurb and pre-order link are below and you can meet Albie and his new community on 5 March 2026, just in time for World Book Day
With huge thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and her brilliant bloggers, as well as lots of fabulous authors and my lovely agent for helping me with this cover reveal today – the support is truly appreciated.
Here’s the blurb:
Some places are special enough to heal hearts… Welcome to Little Beaubrook
In a tiny English village hidden away for decades, the mists are parting to reveal a manor which glows gold and tumbledown thatched cottages that have been waiting for the right people to rebuild them.
On moving in day, a diverse group of new neighbours have only two things in common. Their hearts have been broken in some way, and they’ve all signed a contract with some very strange stipulations, including buying one of the cottages for a pound. As Chair of the commonhold association, Albie Curville hopes that by sharing his late wife’s rules for living he can bring these reluctant strangers together to fulfil her dying wish before he runs out of time… and before they discover his secret.
When their newfound community – built on kindness, friendship and a manor with a long history of helping those in need – is threatened by an outside source, can they finally overcome their pasts to save Little Beaubrook and seize the second chances they deserve?
Come and visit this magical lost village for a cosy, feel-good story about love, found family, new beginnings and the healing power of community. Perfect for fans of Debbie Johnson, Jenny Colgan, Evie Woods and Phaedra Patrick.
If you’d like to support this magical story by pre-ordering the eBook, the link is here bit.ly/48XcAKD (The pre-order link to the paperback will follow in December).
Until next time… Happy Reading & Writing,
Nikki xx

Introducing Bella Brightside: A New Pen Name for My Latest Adventure
Hello Dear Readers,
It’s been quite a while since I’ve blogged as I tend to share news on Instagram and Facebook, BUT I’ve also had an incredibly busy 12 months. Reflecting back, I’ve signed with a new agent, worked on no less than three different projects, chaired panels at writing events, appeared on podcasts, delivered webinars on the writing craft, and critiqued manuscripts for aspiring authors. This is on top of a full-time job and personal commitments.
Phew! For anyone who says they’d love to write a book if only they had time, this just goes to show that it is possible – please do message me if you want to chat about this as I’m very happy to share how I sustain the juggling act…
One thing I’m really passionate about is getting books into the hands of readers, and for several different reasons I won’t bore you with, it hasn’t happened for a fair few years. So, I’m absolutely delighted to announce that I am bringing a book out in March 2026! It’s in a slightly different sub-genre to my previous work as Nikki Moore (rom-coms) and Ella Allbright (commercial women’s fiction) so, I have a new pen name: Bella Brightside.
Choosing pen names can be challenging, but I knew from the start because this is feel-good women’s fiction/romance with a magical twist, it had to be something warm and uplifting to reflect the genre. What do you think of Bella Brightside – do you like it? I’ve had some lovely feedback (and offers of support) already but would love to hear more.
I’m planning a cover, title and blurb reveal in November with an ebook pre-order link, but for now this is the exciting stuff I can tell you:
Magic has been on my mind a lot over the past couple of years and I decided that with so many heartbreaking things going on in the world, we need MORE JOY, so this is my contributionThe setting is Little Beaubrook. It’s a tiny fictional village on the Dorset-Hampshire border, but my aim is to make it feel real and somewhere you’d want to spend time. As a massive reader, I love it when authors provide an escape to fictional places that I can still imagine exists outside of their heads. Hopefully, I’ve done it with this book
Little Beaubrook has been hidden for decades until now… and can only be seen by certain peopleIt has a history of helping people most in need, and Albie Curville is going to need all the help he can get to fulfil his late wife’s dying wish before he runs out of timeIf you previously read The Last Charm then I think you’ll recognise my author voice but with some added sparkles and magical happenings
I’m posting weekly teasers every Monday on Instagram (@authorbythesea1207) until the cover/title/blurb reveal, so if you want to know more, you can catch it over there. I also have a new Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BellaBrightsideAuthor where I’ll share news including behind the scenes info. Please find and follow
That’s it for now, so until the next time – happy reading and writing.
Love Nikki x

Tea Leaves & Reads started out selling online, and were kind enough to choose The Last Charm for one of their very first special edition book boxes themed to the novel. I was very excited to see that Katy and William were opening an independent bookshop based in Weyhill, Hampshire and have enjoyed following their journey on social media as they move towards the bookshop being open full-time. They specialise in signed editions and beautiful packaging, plus bookish treats and gifts, with over 900 titles in stock, and still sell online and host a book club too. They’re lovely, and I can’t wait for this event. Come join us! Bring along a friend! Please also share the details with your fellow book lovers
Until next time, happy reading & writing.
Love, Nikki x

Romantic Novelists’ Association Conference 2024: Writing Success and Community Support
Hello, Dear Readers! Long time, no see. Hope you’re well. I’ve been hard at work behind the scenes over the past few years, so this blog has been very quiet. However, I’ve decided to start posting again, and hope you’ll enjoy peeking behind the scenes of a published author’s life. Or maybe you’re just here to talk about my books. Either way, you’re very welcome.
So what have I been up to? Well: Publishing The Last Charm in another country, writing new books, posting to other social media platforms, critiquing manuscripts, reading a ton of other people’s books and giving quotes on ARC’s, looking for a literary agent and holding day a demanding day job (oh yes, and getting married!) There’s also two beagles, plus friends and family to throw in, so I have a full life.
I’m delighted to say that for the first time in years (due to the pandemic and several bouts of covid) I went to the Romantic Novelists’ Association conference recently. And it was AMAZING. I can’t thank the organisers – who are volunteers with day jobs/writing commitments – enough. The Royal Holloway University of London was stunning, with super-slick organisation of 1:1 meetings with publishers/agents and workshops, good food, friendly staff, a writers emporium where I spent lots of money, a warm and inclusive atmosphere, hopeless romantics quiz (laughter rang up to the very high ceilings) and a gala disco that kept us drinking and dancing until late.
The most important thing for me was being with my lovely tribe and chatting all things writing and books, and I was truly touched by the overwhelming support I received when it was announced at the award ceremony I’d won third prize in the Elizabeth Goudge Trophy. It took me a moment to compute, and gawking, I made my way to the front to accept my prize and have my photo taken. You can see my shocked/excited/bewildered ‘I’m not prepared for a photo’ expression below (with thanks to the RNA for the pic).
Me accepting my award from Jen at Kindle Direct Publishing (EG Trophy judge)This was for opening chapter of a novel, and in my case, a romance with a speculative twist set in the Scottish Highlands at Christmas. I’ve only just started it, so it won’t see the light of day for a while yet, but I’m really enjoying writing it – although it feels strange given we’re still enjoying summer! The placing was bittersweet, because I was runner-up in the same trophy in 2010 when I properly joined the RNA and began my writing journey to publication. So it felt a little full-circle(ish). My ambition now is to hit first place at some point in the future
This time it was Dawn Knox’s turn to win, with my fellow Dorset chapter member Georgia Hill placing second – see her blog post here – huge congratulations to them both.
To quote from the RNA’s official press release (https://romanticnovelistsassociation.org/news/dawn-knox-wins-2024-elizabeth-goudge-trophy):
Elizabeth Goudge was one of the founders of the Romantic Novelists’ Association (RNA) in 1960 and every year, at the RNA conference, a short writing competition for attendees is held in her memory. Entries are always anonymised for the judges, who choose the winning entry based on the strength of the story alone, and many former winners have gone on to further develop their Elizabeth Goudge submission for publication. This year, the award was sponsored by Kindle Direct Publishing, who also judged the shortlist.
Award Organiser, Jan Preston said, ‘The Elizabeth Goudge trophy is a beloved conference tradition enjoyed by all attendees. As a former winner, I well remember the thrill of hearing my name announced, and I’ve taken great pleasure in playing my part by organising the competition for the past two years.’
For anyone who’s a writer or aspiring author, I’d really encourage you to join the RNA, for a long list of reasons including the awards but also for the opportunity to be part of a local chapter (pic of some of the lovely Dorset gang below). However, if you don’t write romantic fiction, I’d encourage you put yourself out there anyway and enter awards/competitions – because next time, it could be you.
News of an exciting bookish event coming soon! Until then, happy reading and writing.
Love Nikki x

UK Publication day for paperback and audio #ChristmasWishes
It’s paperback and audiobook publication day for my lovely aunt Sue Moorcroft for Christmas Wishes – here’s her blog post about it. Congratulations Sue
Xx
Christmas Wishes paperbackHooray! Today Christmas Wishes is available in paperback and audio!
Hannah’s lost her shop in Stockholm and her fink of an ex-boyfriend is trying to swindle her. She returns to Middledip village to look after Nan Heather while she decides what happens next in her life and becomes embroiled with the family of her teen-years buddy Nico. He’s trying to work out what happens next in his life, too. Wishes are easy to make but it’s harder to make them come true…
The paperback should be available in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrison’s, W H Smith, Waterstones and many independent bookshops. It’s a special treat for me to see one of my books on the shelves.
You might know that there’s now an online presence for independent bookshops called Bookshop.org and you can buy Christmas Wishes there, too, thereby supporting bricks and mortar stores.
