Janee started her first business when she was 17. At age 23 she was approached by an executive search and interviewed to get into the world of hospitality, “which was incredibly difficult since there were few positions back then and a crowd of people were vying for them.” She got hired and went to work. She worked in her 20s as director of sales and marketing at a destination management company and dabbled as a travel director. In her 30s, she opened her own meeting and event planning company. She cherished the challenge, travel, people and excitement, and was driven to stay in the forefront of her field.

Inspired by friends and her mother to share her adventures, Janee began writing the book that would become Meeting Eve, but the process was not short. During the seven years she devoted herself to the work, she lost her mother, “an avid reader who so dearly wanted to sit in a quiet room and read my book cover-to-cover – smiling and laughing at Eve’s antics.” She also fought breast cancer twice while working hard to not let it define her.

“Knowing I needed to get back to this project proved to be the prescription that kept me moving forward and excited to wake up each morning,” she says. “I want to encourage everyone going through a tough patch to plough ahead and I hope you glean something from my story that lets you smile, brings you laughter and warms your heart.”

Janee is executive director of two films, the short Chlorine and a documentary now in pre-production about the first American woman to sail solo around the world. She lives with Colin, her husband of almost 15 years, in Seattle where they enjoy cycling, traveling, riding ATVs and, in her passion for health, juicing.
