I began dabbling with what I called a "practice novel," where I challenge myself in both narrative and dialogue. I rework the structure to also practicing editing as a self-published author. Then I started liking the story, so its become another novel in the works. I've also got a kids fantasy series where I've conceptualized it as a dedication to my kids. (less)

How do you get inspired to write?

Ricky Hayes I'm weird and I wonder about a lot of things most people don't. Sometimes, I'll get a story idea, but it doesn't go the distance cause I lose interest…moreI'm weird and I wonder about a lot of things most people don't. Sometimes, I'll get a story idea, but it doesn't go the distance cause I lose interest. What keeps me focused on a story to complete a novel isn't the amount of time I've invested, it's the connection I have to the world. When I continue thinking about the story consistently, then I feel inspired to continue with it.(less)
