Ackerman), nourished by a film buff family, and is now inspiring a series of comedy/horror novels beginning with The Mummy's Quest and now running to 4 titles. The books are informed by classic horror, and are peppered with references to old movies and cult literature. The books are also a reaction to Universal Studios' baffling and uninspired efforts to turn their legacy into a comic book franchise. T ...more

Robin Bailes Ankh-Morpork in the Discworld, although I suspect I would be killed. I would also like to visit Blandings Castle which seems more peaceful.

Week 14- Motivation

Well it's April......and you will note the complete absence of the promised book. But so what? It was always an artificial deadline, as well as an optimistic one, and while I am disappointed not to have made it, it changes nothing.
Even the best of writers get into this situation from time to time, and the hardest thing is to stay motivated as you hear the deadline whizz by (to paraphrase Douglas A Read more of this blog post »

“It seemed too much to hope that, when they found the Mummy, they could sit down to talk about things and discover it had all been a terrible misunderstanding.”
Robin Bailes, The Mummy's Quest

“At times Amelia found herself struggling to keep up. Which, she reflected, was the difference between a woman who had spent her life out in the open, climbing over rocks and hiking through deserts and jungles, and one who curled up by the fire with a nice cup of tea and a good book. There was no question that she would rather be the latter, had been designed by nature to be the latter, and couldn't wait to get back to it, but Amelia made a mental note that if she got out of this she would take better care of herself in the future.”
Robin Bailes, The Mummy's Quest

“I've no idea what happened to him, though I guess if you ask around someone might know. I think he's probably dead now." "Unfortunate," mused Boris. "Certainly for him.”
