New Edition: Luna Tango

I can’t believe it’s been eleven years since my debut novel, Luna Tango, was released. So it feels right to give her a makeover with a fresh cover and blurb. Same story, gorgeous new look!

Now available in both print and ebook!

And this is just the beginning—more makeovers on other titles coming soon!

A captivating tale of family betrayal, forbidden passion, love and redemption

When Dani McKenna was a child, her mother abandoned her for the smoky tango halls of Buenos Aires. Twenty years later, still heartbroken and feeling betrayed, Dani arrives in Argentina determined to find her mother and get answers. But the sultry streets hold more secrets than Dani could ever have imagined, including the discovery of an unsolved cold case that now threatens to destroy three generations of her family.

Her quest for the truth leads Dani to Carlos Escudero, a revered dancer who becomes her guide in this city’s seductive tango world. To finally get answers, Dani must surrender to tango’s language, in the space between bodies that speak what words cannot. Each lesson with Carlos strips away another layer of Dani’s cautious composure. As attraction ignites between them, Dani’s search for her mother’s truth becomes increasingly dangerous—some secrets, she learns, are buried for good reason.

In Buenos Aires, passion runs deep and secrets run deeper. When past and present collide with danger, life-changing revelations will force Dani to choose between the story she came for and the love she never expected.

Release Day!

I am so very excited to announce that A Woman’s Voice is now available in Australia and New Zealand! I’ll be touring Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland and will post dates shortly but in the meantime, you can find this pretty across all book retailers (in-store and online). And if you would like to know more, here’s the blurb:

A sweeping historical drama inspired by the generations of women who have fought for the right to their own freedoms, by the bestselling author of The Codebreakers.

When violin virtuoso Laura Hartley’s priceless instrument is stolen, more than just her celebrated European career disintegrates. Her rare gift of seeing music in colour fades to grey, crushing the sense of self she’s always expressed through her performances.

Fleeing to her grandmother’s home in the Australian outback, Laura discovers an extraordinary legacy woven through sheets of music – a powerful symphony born from the revolutionary hearts of suffragettes who refused to be silenced, their defiant voices rising above the doomed decks of the Titanic.

But as Laura traces each note of this forgotten masterpiece, she uncovers more than just music. She finds a story of women who dared to smash society’s chains, claim their own destiny and fight for a world where every voice can be heard.

When scandal rocks the tight-knit community of Gungderring, Laura must confront the question that has haunted generations of women before her: will she remain safely in the wings, or step forward and fight?

In this soaring tale of inheritance, courage and the fierce bonds between women across time, we’re reminded that the most powerful revolutions often begin with a single voice – and that true freedom lies in finding the courage to become who we were always meant to be.

New release!

Hello!

I’m over the moon to announce that I have a new book coming out in July with Penguin Random House!

Yes, it’s been quite some time between The Codebreakers and now, but after releasing 6 books in 8 years, I needed a little break from publishing. But I certainly wasn’t idle – during this time I’ve been writing this new book while also keeping very busy on the film side of things (more on that later!).

I can’t wait to share this new story with you all!

In the meantime, I’d like you introduce you to A Woman’s Voice. This book is very close to my heart and I’m so excited to have her out in the world very soon! If you like the sound of this story, please consider pre-ordering a copy as this immensely helps establish the book in its crucial first days of release. Your support is always greatly appreciated!

Here’s the blurb:

Congratulations Garage Girls!

I’m absolutely over the moon that the wonderful Garage Girls, who inspired my novel The Codebreakers and documentary Red Lipstick Intelligence, have received the Australian Intelligence Medal. I only had to keep this secret a short time (I was partly involved in the application process) and it reminded me how difficult it must have been for these ladies to keep secrets for decades! Well done, Joyce, Coral and Ailsa, I’m so proud of you!

Win 100 books!

It’s that time of the year that Better Reading asks you to vote for your favourite books. The bonus is you automatically go into the draw to win the 100 books that make it onto the list!

Why is this so important for authors? Our books only stay on book shelves for a short period of time, but getting into the Top 100 means our books will be reprinted and back in stores for another 12 months. This gives readers who missed our books the first time around the chance to experience our characters and stories.

I’d be forever grateful if you choose to vote for The Codebreakers and the good news is that you can vote for more than one book if you can’t decide which is your favourite (you just need to make a separate entry for each one). Thank you for supporting authors – we really do love our readers!

Red Lipstick Intelligence

I am very pleased to announce RED LIPSTICK INTELLIGENCE, the documentary I’ve been working on with Yael Bergman and Nick McInerney, has been selected by the Australian International Documentary Conference to be in their Central Showcase.

Only thirteen documentaries were chosen from a very competitive international field, so we’re super pleased! This means we will have special access to pitch our documentary to international film financiers, broadcasters, streamers, sales agents, and distributors at the AIDC conference in March. I am still blown away!

Here’s a quick rundown on our documentary:

RED LIPSTICK INTELLIGENCE

When Hitler declared he hated red lipstick, Allied women painted their lips in defiance and a group of secret Australian heroines working as codebreakers helped change the course of WWII.

Director: Nick McInerney

Producers: Yael Bergman, Alli Sinclair

YB Productions, Codewords Productions (Australia)

Not a bad start to my new company, Codewords Productions!

Kobo Australian Top 20 – 2021

It has been quiet on the blog-front lately, I must admit but with very good reason, I promise! I am working on quite a few projects at the moment and I hope to reveal more over the next little while.

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that The Codebreakers has been chose as #15 in Kobo’s Top Books of 2021! I am so very pleased this story, inspired by the real-life female codebreakers in Brisbane in WWII, has appealed to so many of you.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this book and my many others, whether it’s writing a review and telling your friends because word of mouth really does make a huge difference in visibility for a book. Thank you so much to you and all at Kobo – what a lovely honour!
