S.N.Arly writes adult and young adult fantasy, science fiction, and dark fiction from her basement in St. Paul, MN.

Her short stories have appeared in a variety of magazines, chapbooks and anthologies. Her first novella came out in 2019, and there are a lot more long-form works to come.

Her writing strength is character. At conventions she likes to talk about young adult fiction, writing combat, weapons, and writing craft. She is currently focusing on novels. When not writing, she collects stray electrons and returns them to the world all at one time.

Currently in-print and readily available collections can be purchased at Lulu as well as your favorite indie bookstore (likely by order) or online book seller. A selection of short stories

I wrote several while coming to terms with the fact that traditional publishing wasn't a model I wanted to follow (too many of my friends have ended up writing what they're told to, not what they want to).

I've had a couple of slow writing years due to some upheaval in the day job, but I've settled into a nice situation recently that will make it possible for me to get much more writing done. Revisiting my waiting novels is high on the priority list.

“For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King

Oscar Wilde
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
Oscar Wilde

J.R.R. Tolkien
“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”
J.R.R. Tolkien

J.R.R. Tolkien
“And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge.”
Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings

J.R.R. Tolkien
“But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
