Winner of the Special Jury Award in the 2011 Novel Competition by Schibsted Forlag, and now finally available in English: Talos Rising is the first of nine novels about The Last Navigator: An exciting journey through space and time, for all readers from young adults and up, the books span millennia of human exploration and survival through one universe and into the next.

Fast spaceships, enigmatic aliens, weird artifacts, brutal reality shows and gladiator games, humanity’s transition to the future is an interesting one. From old Earth where the presidential clones reign with an iron fist, to a war ravaged Mars, most people would want to reach out to the stars. However, our new allies, the Draconians, warn about a hidden danger out there: A

I used to write on MacBook Air too, but I recently changed to an iPad Pro with an 11 inch screen and the magic keyboard. It’s easier to bring than the Mac, and it has its own sim card, so it’s always online. I write in Apple Pages, and I also design my own covers using the Apple Pencil. Another good thing about the iPad Pro is that it doesn’t require a big power brick, and the keyboard doubles as a folio cover for protection. (less)

2024

2024 was a weird year. I remember it starting out cold, with ice covering the inner fjord, lots of smoke on the water and snow on the ground, lots of snow. In the middle of January it was a literal blizzard raging outside. Then at the end of the same month, the store I’m working at closed down for a complete refit. So after working for that a couple of weeks and shivering through the cold winter, Read more of this blog post »

Erik’s Recent Updates

The Mystery of Claw Mountain by Paul Moxham
"An entertaining YA novel. Unfortunately, it’s full of plot holes and a complete lack of logic. Then again, it’s a children’s book, so what does it matter that the children talk loudly when they are in danger of being discovered?

I won’t be buying more" Read more of this review »
White Knight/Black Swan by Ross Harding
"Originally published under the pseudonym Ross Harding in order to not confuse his loyal fantasy fans, White Knight/Black Swan was the only David Gemmell novel not to become an instant bestseller. He wanted to try out a new genre. It was not a success" Read more of this review »

"The Children’s Illustrated Bible is an amazing retelling of some of the most important and dearest stories from the Bible. I just finished reading it to my six-year-old son, who loved it."

RR is a gritty crime novel, set to London during turbulent times. It was never released, at least not until after the author’s death. While still flawed, it’s tons better than White Knight/Black Swan. I would like to give the st

Fade to Blonde by Max Phillips
"Fade to Blonde is the second instalment in the Hard Case Crime series, and it fails to deliver, mainly because it’s boring and lacks drive. I should have finished this 228 page book in less than a week. Instead, I barely managed to read it in three w" Read more of this review »

Fake it till you make it

The saying «Fake it till you make it» comes to mind when reading A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It’s about a young man called Dunk, who wants nothing more than to be a real knight. Dunk the Lunk, thick as a castle wall.
