Geva Gene Ledezma-Salerno (born September 28, 1968) is a writer, artist, photographer, musician, poet and business owner. She is a member of the Gulf Coast Writers Association of Lee County Florida and is both a creative and technical writer. Her latest book is a memoir, which chronicles her year-long experiment in re-inventing and reclaiming her life. Salerno started her spiritual journey at the age of 15 and has lived in both India and Mexico. She has degrees in science and international policy. Her nonfiction work centers on the intersection of personal growth and science.

Professional Life
Salerno completed a memoir in 2013 titled “Center of Gravity”, which chronicles her year-long experiment designed to step outside her pre-conceived ideas about life, in order to reclaim her true self. Salerno worked in nonprofit management from 2005 – 2010, the year she opened her own consulting firm, Nonprofit Solutions Consulting. The firm is composed of 14 consultants, who specialize in helping nonprofits build capacity.
After graduating high school, she sold commercial real estate for several years. Then, following in the family tradition, became a 4th generation barber while in college. After graduating in 1999, she completed a three-month retreat at the Kripalu Center in Lenox MA, called the Spiritual Lifestyle Program. Later that year, she travelled to India, where she volunteered with the Association for Indian Development and the Bhagavatula Charitable Trust. She was also a guest of the Ramakrishna Temple in Belur, India. She credits her time in India with inspiring her to work in the nonprofit sector.
From 2006 -2010 Salerno worked for the Conservancy of Southwest Florida in various capacities. Her final position with the organization was as chief program officer, overseeing four program areas: science, policy, education and wildlife rehabilitation. As part of their fundraising team, she was responsible for bringing in $3,360,000 funding.
Salerno has been a volunteer with the American Red Cross since 2008, as a government liaison. In this role, she develops and maintains relationships with federal, state, tribal and local authorities and government units in order to facilitate the transfer of needed information and data.
From 2003 - 2005 Salerno was employed as an adjunct professor at the Florida Gulf Coast University, where she created two new courses for the university: Introduction to International Studies and Latin American Environment.
Personal Life
Salerno grew up primarily in the northeast United States. Her family moved 10 times before she was 12 years old. She continued this pattern of moving as an adult with a total of 39 moves in her lifetime. Moving so many times greatly impacted her world view and work as an adult and writer. Salerno lived in Queretaro, MX in 2000, where she met and married Carlos Ledezma. They divorced in 2006. Her father is an artist, working primarily in oil painting and has had many careers including sales, marketing and barbering. Her mother has worked part-time at a variety of jobs and is a writer as well. Salerno has three sisters, all younger and all married with children. Her middle sister, Gibranna LaCava owns a marketing firm, specializing in small business marketing.
Spirituality
Salerno has been on a spiritual quest since the age of 15. She grew up in an eclectic household with a constant stream of colorful individuals coming and going. Discussion topics ranged from politics to art to the nature of reality. Her introduction to formal religion was through her grandparents who were members of various Christian churches. She recalls enjoying the ritual of dressing up, sitting quietly in pews, listening to sermons and singing hymns. However, her most significant early impacts were reading “Psycho Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz at the age of 13 and then “The Handbook to Higher Consciousness” at 15, which she encountered at her aunt Victoria Bartell’s house.
