“What’s required is to find some sort of balance. If we’re always engaged in the world, responding to others, doing good works, it’s very easy to become so invested in a particular outcome that we lose our equanimity. We can become consumed by stress because we can’t fix all that is wrong. The world is as it is. So we need that inner perspective that enables us to let things be, that allows us to step back.”
