Veronica Hey there. I miss seeing updates from you.

message 78: by Mir

Mir Hi, Madeleine! How are things going? I saw last month that you posted that you were going to be changing jobs, but I couldn't find a follow-up with more news. I hope your best friend's wedding went well and all is right with the world.

Lori You are like my literary doppleganger! We have 79% similar tastes in books, and yes, a hard core Glen Duncan fan from way back. I heart him something fierce!

message 66: by Lori

Lori Haha! Most perfect taste in BIZARRO literature ever! So happy to welcome you into the TNBBC fold and thrilled that you'd want to be part of it!

message 65: by rachel

rachel Your blog has the BEST title, lady.

Samadrita Hey Madeleine! I am incredibly sorry about the late reply. But I was having major pc troubles these past few days which curtailed my GR experience a lot. :(
Thank you so much for accepting.
I am glad you like the Calvinos and Murakamis on my to-read-next queue. Murakami's writings have become like comfort food to me. Whenever I feel sad or can't seem to get into anything else, I go back to him. He makes me feel at home. My Japan obsession can also be blamed. :)
About Calvino, I have just started to discover him. The only Calvino I have read so far is If on a winter's night.
And about that comment on your review, I really really meant it. I always write what I mean. That Proust review is certainly one of the best that I have read in the last few months and every active GR user knows how many Proust reviews have been cropping up lately. :)
Please keep writing more wonderful reviews for us to read.
Hoping to discuss books with you soon. :)

Jenn(ifer) your hair looks so purdy in this photo. very film-noir-temptress. (of course this comment will be made irrelevant as soon as you change your photo, but I can't comment there so I'm commenting here!)

Kalliope Thank you for accepting my Friends request. You have an original array of books. Looking forward to reading your reviews and comments...

message 52: by Garima

Garima Wishing a fellow Taurean and a Gorgeous and one of my favorite Goodreads reviewer a very Happy Happy Birthday. Hope you'll get really lovely gifts and a nice time with your loved ones.God Bless you :)

Nefariousbig HAHA! Of course! I suppose, I'm too old to care if I appear as a stalker or a pervert. It's so much more fun when people are scared of you for absolutely no reason at all. And, of course, an innocent stalker is just one that never gets caught.

message 50: by Circe

Circe Likewise! It was no trouble at all, I love your taste in books. Reminds me I really should get around to finishing Infinite Jest at some point.
Also I must respond by saying (as one grateful, socially awkward lady to another) thank you very much for initiating conversation! I'm truly hopeless at it, haha. I look forward to chatting books with you soon!

message 49: by Katy

Katy Well, awesome! So glad to have provided you inspiration for a shirt for your husband! back in January there was one that said "Jabba's Gentlemen's Club" that I bought for my husband's birthday... TeeFury has some cool stuff.

Oh, your friend below recommends Gun, with Occasional Music; I've been wanting to read that one for ages! I actually have a copy around here somewhere...

message 48: by David

David Katzman Yes! Cool beans. Well - our opinions aren't that far apart. 77% is pretty solid. The fact that you liked Geek Love speaks volumes! Gastroenterologist is quite hilarious. I need to read his new Nutsack. That didn't come out right. Gun, with Occasional Music was a great one by Lethem. He's been hit or miss, but that one and Brooklyn are excellent. You DEFINITELY should read At Swim-2-Birds. I have a huge love of Flann O'Brien. This was my review of Poor Mouth: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 47: by Kyle

Kyle We're apparently supposed to be pretty rare, but it's quite...er...awesome that you're a A fellow INFP too! I promise, I will try to come up with a more fitting adjective, but awesome seems to just about cover everything. :)

Maybe I should explore different applications of adverbs or something. Wonderfully awesome? Stupendously awesome? Ah! I got it: bodaciously awesome! OK... maybe it will require some more work.

As you said in your Proust review, sometimes we (even more so for us INFPeeps) just feel too much! Regardless of my inability to handle your unmitigated awesomeness (oh, see there? that wasn't too bad), thank you very much for the er, *cough* awesome comment. :)

message 46: by Moira

Moira Not to sound inappropriate, but that is just the CUTEST userpic.

message 45: by Kris

Kris Aww -- thanks as always for being so kind. You always make me smile.

I'm doing OK -- still kind of tired here and there, but much better from the surgery. I should be able to pick up Liam starting next week. (Nothing like having a cat who exceeds post-surgery lifting restrictions. :( )

Ooh -- I need to check out the lineup for the music festival -- thanks for reminding me! I need to check out dates, but chances are I will go. Are you planning to as well?

message 44: by Kris

Kris No worries, Madeleine -- I understand uncertain reading schedules! BTW, how are you doing with V? It's one of my favorites. :)

message 43: by Shamus

Shamus McCarty Thanks Madeleine! I have a feeling you’re going to introduce me to some cool reads.

message 42: by Kyle (last edited Apr 05, 2013 10:39AM)

Kyle Well, I can't vouch for the gush-worthiness of my reviews, but please feel free to dig into them anyway! Maybe you'll strike coal or something.

Your wonderful comment on my profile was a perfect thing to wake up to this morning; aw, who am I kidding. It was awesome.

I assure you, other Goodreaders are chronic liars, and not to be trusted. Just ask them! If they deny it, you know they're lying.

message 41: by Kaethe

Kaethe Howdy! I'm delighted to accept such a charming request. And yes, a Venn diagram would have to show our overlapping books and differing opinions.

message 40: by Richard

Richard Madeleine, Thanks for accepting the friend request. Yes, we all knew that A la recherche was rich. But you are living proof that Proust is something which needs to be savored and enjoyed.

Jonathan Thanks! I suddenly remembered I had a goodreads account a few weeks ago, but had done nothing on it for years. Now I think I may be addicted....I find interesting people like you and can't stop flicking through their bookshelves and stealing ideas. My bank balance is really going to suffer...

message 38: by Arthur

Arthur Graham Hey, Maddy. I'm only on page 36, but so far Inherent Vice and its wacky Hippie-PI-in-LA noir premise is treating me pretty well, actually!

message 37: by Luke

Luke Ha ha, I didn't mean to interrupt your real world fun. I am perfectly fine with waiting for the coming online interaction extravaganzas.

message 36: by Garima

Garima THANK YOU so much Madeleine :)

message 35: by Mark

Mark "It's such a good feeling, to know you're alive. It's such a happy feeling--" :) Don't count on that drop next week. You keep writin em, and we'll keep readin em and likin!

That is wonderful, splindiferous news on the writing front!!! There's this book that's really helpful in shaping story threads, helping you understand the best ways to connect them. It might take what you've found in yourself and explode creativity all over the place! :D It's called Make a Scene: Crafting a Powerful Story One Scene at a Time. Very down to earth book about writing :)

message 34: by Kris

Kris Same here -- I'm very excited. :)

message 33: by Kris

Kris Thanks so much, Madeleine, for the birthday wishes! Looking forward to seeing you next month, too. :)

message 32: by Mark

Mark Woohoo, congrats on your #56 Best Reviewers Award!

message 31: by Lamora

Lamora Thanks for accepting the invite! I really did love your shelves, with many books I'm still hoping to find the time to read.
It's very nice to meet you here and I'll be looking forward for those chats too. o/

message 30: by Janice

Janice Thanks, Madeleine! I look forward to the book chats too (as well as reading more of your awesome reviews)! BTW, Infinite Jest and Swann's Way at the same time? Brava!
