Jane Woods was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Montreal and is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada. She also holds a degree in integrative music studies from Concordia University. She has worked extensively as a voice actor and as a translator of French language films and TV series. She currently lives in Toronto.

Her second novel, Running Downhill Like Water, was published in 2021, by Now or Never Publishing. Her first novel, The Walking Tanteek, was published by Goose Lane Editions in 2014.
