New mythology erotica story out: Loki’s Lies!

Sometimes real life interferes with the best laid plans, and the past few months have been no exception. But I’m back and even more exciting for me, I’m writing again! Writing is one of the ways I relax and leave the troubles of the real world for just a bit. I hope reading does the same for you!
I finished a new erotica story in the Gods Awaken series, Loki’s Lies! I’ve wanted to write a story about Loki for years, but it wasn’t until recently that the right plot connected with that perfect protagonist. Featuring a warrior woman was an easy choice: Runa’s strong and interesting, a woman who has focused on building martial skill at the expense of her love life. Introducing Ragnar, the rival Jarl and making it as much a love story as erotica was important to me–I liked Runa, and wanted her to have her own happily ever after.
I confess that the most interesting part of the story for me was to create Loki’s role. Having him play the part of voyeur, having him sit in the corner and watch as Runa thrills to the touch of a man she hates… that’s the stuff of many a midnight fantasy. Putting her in that position of simultaneous humiliation and arousal is what drives his interest–what makes the whole thing worth the effort for him.
So… back to writing again! I’m happy to say that I’m working on Confessions too–turning it into a full-fledged novel because Rachel and Dey’s story is too intense to tell piecemeal. I’m also working on a collection of Halloween shorts, writing my first humorous erotica for my favorite holiday. They should be available on Amazon soon!
Happy fall, everyone, and I’ll see you between the pages!

The Unpronounceable Name

I’ve been quiet the past few days because I my thoughts were buried in the next few stories of the Gods Awaken paranormal erotica series. The third story, The Ecstasy of Xochiquetzal, had a topic and a setting that really interested me, and it took a bit longer to write.
I really want to tell a story about a less-famous god and setting. In fact, I wanted to tell a story about a goddess–specifically a fertility goddess. When you look at fertility goddess statues, they have lush, full, rounded figures. Combined with the color and movement of her sacred wildlife–butterflies, hummingbirds, flowers–I had the makings for a magical tale.
The other side of the magic, though, is in the main character. Unlike the first two stories, Quetzal isn’t a young maiden. She’s a mother of three, happily married, living a life of love and faith. Meeting the goddess gives her a chance to give thanks for the life she loves so much, for all the blessings she has received over the years. It’s a story of lust, yes, but also of kindness, grace, and the passage of time.
I debated changing the name of the goddess to something more easily pronounced. Then I debated breaking the pattern of the other two stories and not using the goddess’ name in the title of the work. I decided to stay true to it and to her, though, because each of these stories contains a thread of historical accuracy. Every story you hear about the Aztecs paints them as blood-thirsty savages and I wanted to show the human side of their culture. Maintaining authenticity in the names felt like an important part of staying true to that goal.
I hope you enjoy reading The Ecstasy of Xochiquetzal as much as I did writing it!

The Sound of Thunder in My Ears

I’m working on the next book in the Gods Awaken paranormal erotica series: The Lust of Zeus. In doing research, I came across a poem by Sappho and was struck by its beauty and simplicity. It’s quoted in The Lust of Zeus as well, but it’s been lingering in my thoughts all day.
He’s equal with the Gods, that man
Who sits across from you,
Face to face, close enough, to sip
Your voice’s sweetness,
And what excites my mind,
Your laughter, glittering. So,
When I see you, for a moment,
My voice goes,
My tongue freezes. Fire,
Delicate fire, in the flesh.
Blind, stunned, the sound
Of thunder, in my ears.
In Lust of Zeus, the god himself quotes this poem to Danaë, the young woman he ultimately seduces. Danaë has been hidden away by her father, but nothing can prevent a god from finding his deepest desire. I’ll be working on Lust of Zeus this weekend, and hope to have it available on Monday!
I’m also starting a new paranormal erotica series soon, while continuing to write in The Confessions series. So much seduction… so little time!

What inspires me to write paranormal erotica?
I finished the first book in a new paranormal erotica series today, Gods Awakened. It made me think about the things that inspire me to write.
In this case, it starts way back when I toured the Field Museum in Chicago. I was in the walk-through tomb in a rare solitary moment. It was very quiet, and I was looking at a golden mask. Suddenly I wondered: what if the god Anubis came to life?
I was thinking about this over the past week, because I’d always wanted to write historical erotica… but I can never resist that touch of the paranormal. I loved the idea of gods awakening and walking the Earth. Then I remembered a documentary on Egypt I saw years ago, which talked about the fact that there was so much gold mined and used in ancient Egypt that almost every piece of gold jewelry you wear today probably has a touch of ancient Egypt in it… and the idea took flight. What if you could follow a piece of gold throughout history, seeing the lives it touched? In fact, what if touching that gold under certain circumstances could bring a god to life?
Although I work out these details as I start to write, the real inspiration for my paranormal erotica and paranormal romance is in a captured moment. For Dark Initiation, it was that question: Asmodeus asks Rachel if she agrees to be bound to him. I could see it clearly in my head–his eyes, her quick breaths as she knelt on her own kitchen floor. With Taken by Anubis, it was the moment when the jackal-headed Anubis walks into the tomb and the priestess Sa-Khonsu first realizes that she looking upon a living god.
These moments inspire me. What inspires you?
