My Writing Philosphy

I write about subjects I am passionate about. My novels have three consistent threads woven through them:

First, I am passionate about developing characters. All three of my books have vivid, real characters that leap to life from the pages. They confront crisis with creativity, unpredictability, and high energy. They don’t always “win” but during their struggle, they achieve a certain greatness.

Secondly, I am passionate about my plot and storyline. If I am writing a thriller, I believe every page should be thrilling, every action should have a purpose; every deed should have an impact.

Finally, all three of my books have memorable surprise endings!

Painting Yourself Into a Corner

I have done so many times! Outlines are not for me. That's precisely how I get stuck with too many plots. Sometimes it works out. It forces me to blend the story lines in a creative manner often coming up with some interesting twists and turns. Quite often it causes writer's block where I just sit in front of the computer wondering how the hell I got myself in this mess. Then, at the most unsuspecting moment, the light goes on. It really is remarkable and the reason I love to write so much!

The Thrill of Completion

Most authors will admit there is nothing quite like the thrill of completing a novel and finally seeing it in printed form. After months, sometimes years, of painstaking thought, scrupulous editing, and numerous rewrites, the final product is indeed a pleasure to behold.

It was that way for me with my latest novel, The Duesenberg Caper. My first submission was rejected by Kenzi Sugihara of SelectBooks, Inc, NY. Fortunately, he was receptive to my rewrite a year later and with the great teamwork with an excellent publishing firm, on September 1, 2015, I experienced the elation of becoming a published author. I hope it will be successful and a million copies will be sold, but my sense of accomplishment has been priceless.

So my message is - never give up! The next rewrite could be the one!
