All of you who have written a novel will know it's a bit like raising a child. A little idea comes into your head which won't go away, and before you know it, you're tied to your desk furiously writing down all the ideas coming into your head. Then the characters begin to manifest and start talking to you, or you find yourself talking to them and hope no one is in the room when you start talking to them. The process is intense yet extremely enjoyable because you are 100% in the zone. Then comes the tedium of editing and re-editing your work, then even more tedium when you have to re-proof read the proof reads. In the whole process you have highs and lows, like everything in life, but at the end you say to yourself, every bit of that journey was worth it. The result is a beautiful book, lovingly illustrated by Caroline Rittie, and generously reviewed by so many people.
