New book

My second historical novel,'No Safe Anchorage', is coming out in October 2017. It's very different from 'Love and Music Will Endure'. It has a male main character who is entirely fictitious. He's a lieutenant on a survey ship in the Hebrides in the mid nineteenth century. When he attends his friend's funeral on the Isle of Skye he catches a glimpse of a mysterious woman. He believes she holds the answer to his friend's death and he embarks on a quest that takes him to Canada.

He twice meets Robert Louis Stevenson on his travels. The first time the writer is a child, accompanying his lighthouse building father on a survey on a remote Scottish island. The second time they meet Stevenson is a famous writer.
Like a Stevenson hero, the sailor Tom Masters has to undergo trials and adventures before he finds a safe anchorage.
