Rachel Peters is an Ohio author who recently published The Poet's Tarot, a poetry collection focused on the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck. She writes science fiction and fantasy in addition to poetry, and is hoping to publish those novel projects in the near future.

Rachel works as a middle school language arts teacher and holds an M.A. in English. During her undergraduate career at Heidelberg University, she graduated summa cum laude with majors in English (with a concentration in writing) and adolescent/young adult education.

When Rachel isn't working and/or writing, she can be found adding to her CD collection (she's still attached to the 90s), going to concerts, endlessly window shopping, and, of course, reading (both books and tarot). Sh

"I have no idea what my thoughts on this book will be in a few weeks, but today I enjoyed it in all of its bizarre glory. It's worth noting that I'm far sicker than I've ever been before in my life and spent all day reading to distract myself from exc" Read more of this review »

This is the best book I've read since Vita Nostra in 2024.

Because of the complex narration style, it can be difficult to get into at first, but once you've got it, you've got it... and the book will also have you. The Spear Cuts Through Water can be

Charlotte Brontë
“Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! - I have as much soul as you, - and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you!”
Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

Steve Moore
“There is a face beneath this mask, but it isn't me. I'm no more that face than I am the muscles beneath it, or the bones beneath that.”
Steve Moore, V for Vendetta

Dr. Seuss

Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

Stephenie Meyer
“It's not the face, but the expressions on it. It's not the voice, but what you say. It's not how you look in that body, but the thing you do with it. You are beautiful.”
Stephenie Meyer, The Host
