Born and raised in New York City, S.F. Heskin is an illustrator, writer, and graphic designer. The Suzie-Que and Pepperanne series was inspired by her 20-year relationship with an extraordinary cat named Pepper. Her work has been featured in the SCBWI Bulletin and took first-place honors at the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge T-shirt design competition (Winner 2006 and 2009).

The best thing for me is to put it down, take a breath, and focus on something else. I find it helpful to revisit the literature that inspired me to write in the first place, or take a walk and be present in the current moment. Other times it merely takes a good night's sleep to clear my mind and restore my creativity.(less)
